Just wanted to compare the transfer dealings of our new manager compared to our previous incumbant.
With CL he appears to watch his targets over a long period of time, tries to get them into the club prior to signing allowing him to guage their character, attributes, see how they interact with the squad and coaching staff. He also appears to do some pretty in depth research into the player. Once CL identifies a suitable signing he swoops, and in the instances of Gerrbrand and Gilbert showed great perserverence in finalising deals which appeared to have broken down. Although in the instance of Lovell this fell through, CL appears to be philisophical and gets on with identifying his next target. He takes his time in identifying players, is never rushed or flustered into making rash signings, and invariably at present has signed some decent players who appear to be settling in well, he also seems to have an excellent eye for relatively unknown players.
MA on the other hand was the complete opposite, granted he did make some decent signings in his time but his reign was littered with misjudgements. He signed mainly proven older players, he appeared rather hasty and desperate in his transfer dealings, appeared to sign players on past reputation without really researching into their characters. Hence Micky's tenure was blighted with ill discipline and a number of poor signings and personality clashes. A number of Micky's signings were left to rot in the reserves or were resold or released whilst still under contract; players such as Curtis, Howey, Gillespie, Brooker, Priet, Makin, Keown and Hignett for example, were all players signed by Micky that either failed to live up to expectation and invariably moved on without making a valued contribution to the club or had very public fall outs with the manager who had initially signed them.
We should allow CL time for this team to blend and grow together, he has demonstrated an excellent ability within the transfer market and signed some excellent young players who will develop with the club and either further their careers in the premiership with City or go onto make the club a considerable amount in the transfer market. And therefore allow further investment in the team.
