Aiming for the Premiership

I'm happy to say my ankle is fine and I haven’t had any repercussions from it at all. I think the only player we are missing at the moment is Andy Johnson who has had some problems with his ankle - but he's on the mend now. We definitely miss having him in the team, but it's a blow to lose anyone from our squad through injury.

It was a big relief to get the win against Wolves last weekend. It important for us to get the victory, and it has really improved the confidence. A win at any stage is good but we needed it because we have been struggling recently.

I wouldn’t like to predict whether or not that was the turning point in our season as anyone can beat anyone in this league, and there's not much between the sides. It's all about getting a bit of consistency and we could do with getting on a bit of a run and hopefully we can carry it on against Barnsley this weekend.

The results indicate where you are meant to be, and ours aren’t Premiership-class yet but hopefully that will change.

Barnsley are a team near the bottom as well. They are just a couple of points below us in the table, so both teams will be looking for crucial points on Saturday. Hopefully we can back-to-back wins, which would be fantastic.

In December it is so vital to get a few wins - it can be a real make-or-break point of your season. If we can beat Barnsley we can begin to open up a gap between us and them, and relax a bit.

I have to mention our fans; they have been really good to us. The attendances normally go up and down but we get an average of 22,000 for every home game, which is great! It helps so much to have them behind us, and to see the ground almost full really spurs you on.

There's still quite a bit of talk about a takeover happening at Leicester City, but it doesn’t affect the team, not from my point of view anyway. I don’t see how it could affect the way you play, it's not in your hands! Other players might think about it more, but I have got a long contract so I am happy and settled. Initially I don’t think there would be any drastic changes anyway. It would only benefit the club- having funds and big-name players come in would help our bid to reach the Premiership.

We don’t talk about the Premiership all the time, but I want to be there. Most players do and it's a dream for any professional footballer. We have got a great set-up here, and the fans remember those times from the O'Neill era. We just take each game as it comes, but personally it’s where I want to be. That’s where you can get on telly, and build your profile, it is what you want!

Anyway, we have already got a Premiership ground and training ground, so we're all set, should it happen. But the results indicate where you are meant to be, and ours aren’t Premiership-class yet but hopefully that will change in the not-to-distant future.

We are pretty happy with our FA Cup draw against Fulham. It's always nice to come up against Premiership opposition, but at the same time it’s a difficult game. In all honesty, if you want a Premiership team you want one of the very top teams, and Fulham are just there in the middle. But I'm sure it will be good and it's always nice to test yourself against Premiership opposition. It's at home for us, so we can approach the match with optimism but at the moment the Barnsley is the only game we are thinking about.

Very interesting, I heard essentially exactly the same rumour over Chrimbo with a former Director of ours who still has links; however he was also stating that MM had really bullied the board on this deal, and that rising expectation of his impending arrival had almost placed the LCFC shareholders in a no-win situation.

That is definatly the truth, he has won over the fans with clever PR to reduce the price of the club.

Milan Mandaric has submitted his revised terms to take over Leicester City just four days before the January transfer window opens.

The club's shareholders now have to decide whether to accept in principle the latest figures in a prolonged saga that appears to be going right down to the wire.

Mandaric's offer still amounts to £25million but the terms have been revised.
If Mandaric, below, is to be in a position to hand manager Robert Kelly funds in time for the opening of the transfer window on Monday, a decision will have to be made quickly.
After going through the books during a process of due diligence, Mandaric's advisors found a higher level of financial burden than they had been led to expect.
City insisted at the time that the deal was still on-going.
Mandaric has lost none of his enthusiasm for the takeover but wants it to happen as soon as possible so he can set about reviving City's fortunes.
Time, however, is of the essence and it is now down to the shareholders who, famously, gave Mandaric's first offer the green light six weeks ago.
The new terms are not the official bid, only the 'heads of agreement'. If the shareholders reject, or ask for more time to consider, then the process will be delayed even further.
Mandaric is totally committed to the deal, and City claim to be as well. Yet the way things are being dragged out does neither of them any good.
If Mandaric does become the new owner in time, then City can work in the transfer market.
If there is a delay, then the chance will be missed.
Thankfully, the picture is a bit clearer on the playing side where City have recovered from a bad run during which they took just one point from 18, and look poised to end a traumatic year in reasonably promising shape.
Kelly, as always, needs to concentrate on "the real world", as he calls it, and cannot afford to imagine what may, or may not, transpire in the next few days.
He said: "All we are thinking about is going to face Southampton on Saturday. That is all we can do.
"We have won our last two away games and will go there with no fears, but we do know they have a good home record and that it will be difficult.
"With so many games coming at us at this time, we are in reasonably good shape, with no major injury worries among the regular players. But that can soon change so we need as many of them as possible fit and ready."

So feckin what.... I am only bothered what happens on the pitch and that can only happen with someone behind the club willing to stump up for the good of the team, even if the main objection is to sell us in a few years when we have seen success and make a few bob. You never invest without an eye for profit.
Feck em get MM in and quick, we are a sinking ship and need a big bucket to get the heavy water out

I'm kind of with you on that BG I must say.

it stands to reason, I pay very good money to watch the club and so it is not unfair to expect to see a good team playing at a high level is it?

I dont give a flying feck if the board and shareholders lose out on this, they have got value out of their investment already with the way they are pampered on match days, free gourmet meals, free drinks, free seats and they can bring along guests too..... it all adds up

spot on BG. they said they werent in it to make money back in the first place so why didnt they all come foward openly and feck off from the beginning. im sure most did its just a few feckpigs who had to make it difficult, probably out of spite too.

come on mandy!!!!

It stands to reason. If the club is in a worse state than they say then they must expect a lower bid and snap the hand off. Unless MM is trying it on but being so near the window I doubt he would risk such a low bid. I believe the club is in a worse state than we know and the lower offer has come in to reflect this.
I think if ( or when ) MM comes in the money will be spent by Dowie in the summer as we dont really have a good chance of play offs at the moment

Don't agree with that.

I bet Mandaric buys (or gets someone to buy) grated cheese. Lazy muff.
