After weeks of speculation, it's now official:
Lloyd Dyer has today agreed a move to Championship side Watford, bringing to an end his six-year spell as a Leicester City player.
The 31-year-old winger was offered an extension to his City contract, which was due to expire this summer, but has opted to sign a three-year deal with the Hornets, effective from 1 July.
Leicester City Football Club would like to place on record its thanks to Lloyd for his hard work and professionalism during his time in a Foxes shirt and for his considerable contribution to two promotions and the Club’s return to the Premier League. We wish him and his family success in his new challenge at Vicarage Road.
Signed from MK Dons in the summer of 2008, Lloyd was one of only three survivors from City’s League 1-winning squad, along with Andy King and Conrad Logan, that would go on to win promotion to the top flight five years later. During six years with City, he made 265 appearances, returning a healthy 39 goals and thrilling the King Power Stadium faithful with a string of outstanding performances from the left flank.
Lloyd made a big contribution to City’s immediate return to the Championship during his first season with the Foxes and was heavily involved once again the following season as Nigel Pearson’s side narrowly missed out on back-to-back promotions through the play-offs.
He faced a brief battle for his place during Sven Goran Eriksson’s time in charge of the Club, but typically forced his way back into the reckoning before once again becoming a mainstay in the side when Pearson returned to the helm in late-2012.
Dyer’s final season at King Power Stadium saw him make 47 appearances and score 10 goals as City roared to the Sky Bet Championship title, with Lloyd himself scoring the historic goal that clinched the trophy – a typical raid from the left wing and a sensational right-foot finish at Bolton Wanderers’ Reebok Stadium on 22 April.
He departs with the best wishes of everyone at Leicester City Football Club and will always be welcome at King Power Stadium as an opponent, a guest or a friend of the Club.
