Leicester were relegated from the top flight and Adams’s team were torn apart as players such as Marcus Bent and Les Ferdinand departed, aided by clauses in their contracts in the event of demotion. There was precious little investment to replace them, although Adams does regret one of his summer acquisitions.

“We did not get off to the best of starts, but fans are fickle and people have short memories,” Adams said. “People were asking questions of me indirectly and I felt they should not have been doing that.

“Worse was one of the players, who was working against me politically, behind my back. He was a high-profile player who’d had a lot of success and obviously felt he knew the game better than me, even though he’d never had a manager’s job.

“I was accused of losing the dressing-room but if you look at my history I have never lost a dressing-room. But he did succeed in splitting ours up. I learnt a lesson in that you have to be careful what type of player you bring into a club.”

So, on reflection, how did he manage to get through those dark days with Leicester City?

“In hindsight, I don’t know that I really did. After La Manga, there was relegation, then back on the treadmill trying to build a new team. Those three girls (the alleged rape victims) did for me as well.”

Interesting. Who was the trouble maker i wonder?:102:

Here are some clues (if what I've heard is right):

looks like a cave man

played most of his career in north London

his initials are MK

I think that bearing in mind we had a poor start to last season, following on from a relegation season this season prior, Adams is being a little unfair in his assessment that the fans were fickle. It is a similar position to the one Norwich find themselves in at the moment, and there is a lot of dissatisfaction being levelled at Nigel Worthington. Also MA was the one who raised the level of expectation by declaring that top 2 was our target.

I think Micky likes to dissolve himself from the blame, it is always somebody else's fault, La Manga, the fickle fans, players undermining him, the team ripped apart from the previous season. He never holds his hand up and takes a share of responsiblity for the poor performance, why doesnt admit that he gotit wrong tactically, or that the balance of the squad wasnt right because he made errors in the transfer market.

I think this piece sums up his stubborness, and instead of him saying about how he enjoyed his time as manager, he uses it to wheel out a load of lame excuses as to why he didnt succeed, he still sounds quite bitter. I think he may well now get booed, following this article, but maybe that's what he wants, after all he seems to thrive on this siege mentality.

Was it ever a secret? The relationship between MA and Martin Keown was well publicised in teh national press, I'm sure.

Perhaps he's been reading on here that he's going to get a rousing cheer tomorrow. That's the last thing he wants, of course - it's not something that is going to encourage him in the way that Ade was encouraged on Tuesday, is it?

No, what MA wants is a chorus of boos - and even some jeering - and a bit of name-calling. And he thinks he can get that by calling us fickle!!

Let's show him that we can't be fooled!

Spot on. He always seems to have a chip on his shoulder. I think given the appalling standard of football we had to suffer after relegation he was lucky that we didn't have the money to give him the boot anyway.

Because he won us promotion in very difficult circumstances he seems to think LCFC fans owe him a huge debt of gratitude and therefore he shouldn't have had any form of criticism. Football management is based (as MON kinda said) on your last 8 games. And the 8 games before MA walked was truely some of the worst football I have ever seen. A good example how no one is untouchable is the way Ferguson is being talked about by Man U fans at the moment after all the sucess he's had.

IN fairness you can see why Martin Keown might of thought he could of done better than MA. The bust up came after the QPR match where we were winning 2-0, then Connerly got sent off, MA moved Dublin upfront - something that Keown didnt agree with, and that lead to us conceding 3 goals and losing the match.

Rumor had it that Keown wanted to bring in Tony Adams and have a joint manager.

Shows what a strong manager he was! Why the feck did he not slap him down then, put the player in his place?

What odds on MA getting the sack if they lose to us? Their fans at work tell me they've had enough and want Eric Black to return.

Ay and what odds Levein leaving our club, should Cov turn us over, this game is going to be massive, both sides struggling, both managers under extreme pressure to turn things around, both sets of supporters anxious for the tide to turn and win the local derby, whoever loses tomorrow may well be signing on by the middle of next week.

I cant believe people are building this game up as Leveins biggest game, its a load of crap, if we had beat Burnley people would have been talking about us making the play offs!! The majority of Leicester fans said that consolidation was the aim this year! 1/4 of the way through the season and we should be up in the play offs!

Willow, I am not saying Levein should be sacked, what I am saying is that this game is massive, I didnt and still dont expect us to be in the playoffs BUT neither do I expect us to be 18th and in danger of being dragged into a relegation dogfight. You say if we had beaten Burnley, but we didnt we lost and yet again lost momentum, we are unable to kick start our season and build a run, also turn it around if we hadnt beaten Watford last saturday, how much sh1t would we be in and how much more pressure would Levein be under. We have to face facts tomorrow is massive, it is a game against our former manager and and a team likely to contain a number of our supposed misfits, it is a defining game one where we will truly be able to guage whether this current side is better than a Micky Adams team, because at the minute based on results there aint a lot of difference.

And whether you or I or anybody else likes it or not, if we lose tomorrow we will be in big trouble and the pressure on Levein and the board will IMO increase 10 fold. It is a massive game.

If City should lose tomorrow, :icon_conf :frown:  , it will not be the fact that they lose that will cost CL his job but the way in which they lose. :icon_razz :icon_wink

What MA also forgets to mention was that Keown came to city to take over from MA and for reasons that where beyond keown control it did not happen.

MA must accept the responsability for that.

Not to mention looking at league position's of both clubs its a 6 pointer.

Don't talk to Micky Adams about dressing room politics...talk to him about the sky blues:098:

Will, it's a fact though. When has he had a bigger game here? or indeed anywhere?? If we lose this afternoon, we are in big trouble, make no mistake about that. Someone will eventually pay the price and that somebody is always the manager.
