From the official sheep site:

Leicester City defender Chris Makin today joined the Rams in a loan deal that is expected to become a permanent move.

The former Ipswich player, who played under George Burley at Portman Road, made over 100 appearances for Sunderland and has had spells at Oldham, Wigan and Marseille.

Director of football Murdo Mackay said: "We're delighted a player of Chris' calibre is joining us - he is a great competitor, very experienced and will be a valuable addition to the squad.

"He's also a necessary addition bearing in mind our injury problems."

The 31-year-old, who is comfortable in either full-back position, joins the Rams on a temporary loan but he is expected to become a Derby player until the end of the season once his contract with Leicester has been terminated.

Makin signed for Ipswich, from Sunderland, for £1.4m in the 2000/01 season.

He played in two UEFA Cup campaigns with Ipswich, and moved to Leicester on a one-year deal at the end of an injury-hit 2003/04 season.

He has made 23 appearances for Leicester this season.

Makin has made 386 career starts and nine substitute appearances, scoring eight goals.

I know it's already been posted elsewhere, but that thread was started before he left, and people who don't read every thread every time something has been added won't have realised he's gone.

I too thought he had finally ended the two year drought, but sadly it was about a footballer (allegedly)

Nearly one o'clock and still waiting for the official site to tell us Makin has gone

Great service once more

If I read between the lines this loan is not for the rest of the season and that would seem to be some sort "trial" period for Ipswich to run the rule over Makin. :? :-(

It sounds like it's been done as a loan so he can train and play with the sheep immediately, while Makin and LCFC negotiate the termination of his contract (like we did with Benjamin).

And another one bites the dust...we will have no squad left in three days

Cutting away the dead meat is the only way clear up a wound.

Keep it up CL

They've finally got round to it:

Chris Makin is today poised to sign for Derby County until the end of the season.

At the time of going to press (3:30pm Tuesday) the paperwork was being completed allowing the player to make the switch accross the East Midlands to Pride Park.

Makin joined the Foxes during the summer on a free transfer from Ipswich Town.

The 31-year-old right-back's contract with Leicester was due to expire at the end of the season, and as with James Scowcroft the player has been allowed to leave the club.

Makin has made 23 appearances for the Foxes this season, but lost his place in the starting line up following the capture of Alan Maybury from Hearts.

Finally makes it onto the Official Site, nearly four hours after it was reported by the BBC

Good work, chaps !!
