Milan Mandaric hopes to seal Martin Allen's arrival as Leicester City's manager in signing talks tonight.
The club chairman broke off a foreign trip to return to England today and, if everything goes according to plan, Allen could be unveiled as the boss by the weekend.

MK Dons manager Allen is expected to bring his assistant Adrian Whitbread and first-team coach David Hockaday with him, and supervise a complete revamping of City's infrastructure on the playing side.
Officially, City are keeping their options open, citing Allen as one of several candidates, but the move to gain permission from MK Dons to talk to Allen clearly suggests he is the man they want.
Mandaric, while committed not to rush the process too much, is known to be impatient to get a new manager in and, if those out of work, such as Neil Warnock and Chris Coleman, had been his choice, they would have been here already.
Those rumoured contenders who are still in the play-offs, Blackpool's Simon Grayson and Derby's Billy Davies, are now out of the picture unless something untoward happens.
Negotiations with Allen will still have to be completed, but it would now be a major upset if the former Brentford manager does not take over at the Walkers Stadium.
It would not only herald a new era, but also opening the way for new summer signings.
Mandaric has been holding off making any transfer moves until he could tell prospective players who the manager was going to be.
City have been linked with veteran defenders Arjan De Zeeuw and Bruno N'Gotty, and midfielder Lee Hendrie, but the final decision on players will be down to the in-coming manager.
If all goes well, Allen's hallmark determination to succeed will have a willing partner in Mandaric, who has always declared "I have not come here to fail."

the mockery have also published a load of letters from fans supporting the appointment even some from Brentford and MK dons.

Done deal then isn't it, just like when the mockery said they had received loads of anti Warnock letters that he wasn't MM's choice, just prints what Milan wants once again

Would have rather had Davies (although he was never going to happen), Warnock or Ince ahead of Martin Allen although will trust MM's judgment that he is the right man to take Leicester City forward. Can't exactly say that my mouth is watering at this prospect and will certainly not be rushing to the ticket office to 'renew' my season ticket, although will give 'Mad Dog' my full support.

:038: MARTIN ALLEN'S BLUE 'N WHITE ARMY! :038:

Ince over Allen???

they do seem to be sowing the seeds for Allen to become manager in much the same way as they did during the takeover.

People will still be saying..''its a smoke screen''..'' theres a sting in the tail'' etc etc when Martin Allen is sat in the Dug Out at The Walkers. They don't want him so they hope it won't happen

Ince over Allen???

Just feel that if we are going to take a bit of a gamble, go for the one with the biggest pay-off (i.e promotion and further). I just can't see Martin Allen being a Premiership manager and am unsure about his style of play based on comments from past clubs and as well as his lack of success with the play-offs so doubt whether he is the man to take us there. If he did though, I would quite happily eat my words! ;)

Ince is probably more of a gamble than Allen but feel that the experience of playing with the some of the best players in the world and playing for one of the best managers world will have been passed on to him and could lead to bigger and better possibilities than Martin Allen. Furthermore, Ince has proven that he can motivate players and get the best out of them by keeping Macclesfield in the league with no money to work with, he got the best of out what was available to him.

Just FYI, I would have preferred Warnock to Ince, but would have also preferred to have had Davies ahead of Warnock! :icon_lol:

Sheffield United's chairman came out today as saying the Neil Warnock's style wasn't 'cut out for the premiership'. If that's so, it's only more so for Martin Allen.

I have to say I'm really disappointed by this appointment, and all the sounds coming out of Milan's Mockery suggest it's a done deal now, the more and more I think about it.

It's true we need someone with a bit of passion to get the players going a bit more, but we also need someone to reform the entire coaching and fitness setup at the club- is there any evidence Allen has the know-how to do this?
We need someone who will be able to attract good players to the club and keep them here- will Allen's supposed lack of man-management skills achieve this?
We need someone who can build a side that will get into the Premiership and then stay there- will the long-ball and no plan B do that? Look at the three promoted clubs this year for your answer.

At the end of the day all this episode has done for me is remind me that Milan Mandaric might well have appointed Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth, he also appointed Graham Rix, Velimir Zajec and Alain Perrin. He's clearly a very talented businessman who is able to bring a hell of a lot to City, but I'm beginning to think that his hands-on role is going to be bad for the club in terms of his own appointments and in potentially driving off better applicants for the manager's job.

I hope I'm wrong, and don't think that I won't be cheering the club on, but I really can see the next close-season break being just like this one- a lowly finish, a search for a new manager and some more of our talented youth being put out on the scrapheap.
