Jewell do for me says Mandaric
27/10/2007

Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric wants a second crack at persuading Paul Jewell to accept the manager's job.

Jewell has already turned down one approach from the Foxes this season, before Gary Megson was handed the role. Now with Megson having made a quick exit from the Walkers Stadium to take over at Bolton, Mandaric is finally hoping to win Jewell around.

The former Wigan boss has been taking time away from football, and he is just coming back to England after a break in Dubai on media business.

The highly-rated Scouser admitted that he gave the Leicester job serious consideration two months ago but felt he was 'not ready'. However he could be in a different mood now.

Mandaric plans to have a chat with Jewell this week. His CV and availability have pushed him ahead of rival candidates like Iain Dowie at Coventry and free agent Peter Reid.

Ironically Jewell recommended Megson for the post last time, but Mandaric has not held that against him.

Mandaric will push the boat out and offer Jewell a big contract, knowing that there is no compensation to pay.

He is reluctant to pursue Dowie because hard-up Coventry would like a £500,000 pay-day, and to lose his salary from their stretched payroll.

Made me laugh out loud. :icon_bigg

Someone told me Jewell was at the game today, mind you so apparently was Graham ****in' Souness :icon_roll
