Matt Piper has expressed his relief after he underwent a successful knee operation in America.

Piper, who has gone under the knife four times since he joined the club, went to see top surgeon Dr Richard Steadman in a bid to fix his long-running problem.

It was initially thought the 23-year-old would be out for the whole of next season, but he may now make a return in October.

So not likely to sign him until January.

Snap the bugger up :D

Sorry to fuel some seedy speculation but my mate from Sunderland has heard that Matty Piper has got some local scal up the duff, so he'll probably be stayin up Sunderland for the mean while. Tragic

What a great player he was for us back at Filbo! Id love him to back and leave the injuries back at Sunderland !

We owe Piper to one Gary Parker who gave him his chance in the League cup match against Leeds, although we may of lost 6-0 it was infact a game which in the long run staved off Admin!
