Aberdeen will continue their pursuit of Celtic striker Shaun Maloney after being informed that trialist Piotr Wlodarczyk was not available.
The Poland international had impressed Pittodrie manager Jimmy Calderwood during a pre-season trial and the Dons boss had hoped to bring the 28-year-old to the club on a loan deal but Legia Warsaw have now decided to keep the forward.
An Aberdeen spokesman said: "They (Legia) have decided that Piotr is not available."
Pittodrie director of football Willie Miller confirmed that any deal for Wlodarczyk was now over.
He said: "Circumstances have changed with Legia and they are not willing to let him go now."
The Dons will now make another attempt to lure Scotland Under-21 international Maloney, 22, away from Celtic Park.
