Get him involved. I think he's a good manager, look what he did at west brom. 2nd bottom when took over, he's got um up twice. Gotta be better than Bassett and Wilko.

Tend to agree very similar to Adams, but then you also start to think that he may be better than say a Phil Parkinson or Mike Newell type as they are untried at this level.

At least Megson has a good track record at this level. Personally I think this may have been engineered by Megson in the hope of this outcome and allowing him to make himself available for our job.

I think he wanted to get out of WBA and proberly has done for some time now. And the noises being made by Leicester sound like he could be the guy they want, think about it: "The right manager might not be avliable right now, so we may have to wait a few weeks" , "Theres no hurry to appoint a new manger".

Then think about how we all know Leicester have been underachiving with the squad we have (which is excellent for a team in thei division), and how we could easily walk this leauge. And also condiser that Megson has done it several times before (in recent history). This would mean if he took the job he'd proberly be back up in the Premierhip next season where as he may well of been looking for work becase the board were'nt going to renew his contract.

Also think about how Bassett has been talking about staying on till the end opf the season, and how Megson had handed in his resignation for the end of the season in writing. From that Megson knows thing will go one of two ways - 1) The board sack him immediatly and pay him off, leaving him free to take the Leicester job or 2) he stays on for a few months until the board decide to sack him/the end of season come and then joins what could well be a nicly placed premiership side.

Just a thought!

One hell of a conspiracy theory Fox Fan, but I think you may well be right.

Reminds me of when MON left Norwich out of the blue, next thing he turned up at Filbo.

It reminds me too, I wouldn't be at all surprised if something similar didn't happen this time.

Lets hope it ends up with the same results.

Still a better bet than Adams and the terrible twins we have at the moment.

It all seems to fit though, and they will probably announce him as the new manager soon, just in time to organise the xmas do and the traditional "roast"

I've never been a huge Megson fan, but this would be the type of job that would suit him to the ground. At least he has passion, a track record and isn't a hasbeen.

Why's that? Please explain. Bassett has had his moments with promotion and Wilkinson was considered good enough to coach the England set up. West Brom were defensive minded 1-0 specialists - solid, dependable but about as bright and exciting as the industrial landscape that surrounds the Hawthorns.

We didn't get rid of MA just to replace him with a clone. The qualities of the Megsons, Bassett's, Adams's are laudable in some ways but as I stress and stress again, the way of the future is the way of the Wengers, Fergusons, even the Hary Redknapp's of this world - with the emphasis on attack.

Three points for a win has seen to that. If you accept that then it certainly narrows the choice down from the 100-odd applicants and until a decision is made in that direction then I'm interested to see if Bassett/Wilkinson can adjust to the needs of the modern football club. They've certainly got as much to offer as Megson.

so, bassett is supposedly advising the board on a new manager, well i can remember reading a newspaper article on the day that we lost 1-0 to west brom in the f.a cup :( (season 01-02) that bassett and megson were next door neighbours and also very good friends. i know bassett wants the job but surely if they are friends it MAY make megson want to come here and he has got everythng we want or need, good track division1 record and he isn't a has-been

Good point bertfox. cos if bassett and megson are mates, megson aint going to insist that city get rid of bassett.
So bassett can return to his office and do what he has done for the last two years.
