I remember going to Brighton many millions of years ago. Went down early on the train - it was a bank holiday. We stopped in a pub by the station and I remember a load of skinheads came off the train looking for trouble, and the police made them take the laces out of their boots. They walked up and down the street like they were wearing flippers. So funny. Then when they tried to chase some heavies, they couldn't catch them, their boots flapped and slipped all over the place. I don't think they could work out why either! That was the highlight of the day - The match was a relegation decider I think. Alan Young got sent off and we lost 2 or 3 -1. Fooking shyte place IMO.
And an ex girlfriend sh*gged someone from Brighton so I hate the place. What you have to put up with being a City fan.

I'm sure MKFox could share some of his favourite memories of Brighton but we do not want to hear about those 'dirty weekends' him and his friend Raymond have had...sickening.

Didn't Kevin Macdonald get sent off in the same game? An Easter Monday?

Did they play in the same team:102: . Alan Youngs city career finished around the time of Linekers emergence. Kevin Macdonald was much more prominent during Linekers golden years with us. I wouldn't bet against it though, the old memory go's a bit after all those years:icon_conf

I don't remember a second sending off, but it was a long time ago. I think it could have been Easter monday, I reckon it was about 1978 or 1979

Last time I heard of Youngy, he was at Notts County - manager of the youth side. I used to referee on that league. I beleive he got sacked the night before the youth cup final as he slapped one of the kids, (alledgedly).

I'm sure they both got sent off that day.

I don't think you've got your Lineker/Young time-line quite right. Lineker debuted at Oldham in the League match in the same season that Alan Young got the hat-trick for Oldham in the later FA Cup game. Alan Young came to City ready for the start of the following season, therefore Lineker actually debuted before Young. (It is true though that Lineker didn't get a regular place either in his first season or in either of the two when Young was with us - perhaps that what you meant by emergence).
