Don't think it would be such a bad thing on a short term deal. No doubt he still knows where the net is even if he is now more injury-prone and has lost his pace. Doesn't strike me as a Pearson sort of signing though to be honest..

Michael Owen says he will continue in football despite not being offered a new contract with Manchester United, but insists it will not be in England's second tier.

"The Championship is not an option. I'd like to think I haven't lost the ability to score goals and play at the highest level," he told Sky Sports News.

"If I'm not going to play in the Premier League I may look further afield.

"I still feel good and even though I've had a few injuries, I don't wake up with sore joints."

My thoughts too. Although for some reason I have him down to go to Southampton! If he doesn't, I can see him going to the MLS - either with LA Galaxy or NYRB.

I would be surprised if he was willing to move/commute to somewhere like Southampton given how much he is into his horses now. Blackpool maybe of they go up?
