Leeds set to sign Ricketts

Leeds United look set to land Michael Ricketts from Middlesbrough, although it remains to be seen if it will be as part of the deal that takes Mark Viduka to Boro.
Ricketts has arrived at Elland Road for a medical at the Division One club, and is expected to seal a three-year deal although a fee has not yet been finalised.

It is widely expected that Viduka will complete a move in the opposite direction, and Ricketts will be used in any deal for the Australian striker - who has already opened contract talks with Boro.

Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell, who must be resigned to losing star man Viduka, will be delighted to land a player who has proven his quality in the past.

Ricketts even earned an England call-up after a fine spell with Bolton Wanderers that saw him help lift them into The Premiership and then lead the top-flight scoring charts at Christmas 2001.

Rickets scored 24 times the last time he played in Division One and will be confident that he can forge a partnership with Julian Joachim or Danny Cadamarteri at Elland Road.

Now I aint being funny but whatever Leeds can afford we can match too. Fair enough he'll be offered to them as part of Viduka deal, but Leeds need every penny they can get so it's not like they could turn down an extra million and take Ricketts. We should wade in, he is a class player with age on his side. COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ricketts

If MA cant convince Bent after 12 months of trying he aint going to convince a good young Prem striker to join our shambles!

can't remeber who it was, possibly Mark Lawrenson, but I once heard some (so-called) expert refer to Michael Ricketts as a 'Clumsy version of Emile Heskey'... made me laugh

Are you mad???

Ricketts is one of the worst footballers I have ever seen in the top flight, and I've watched a bloody Peter Taylor Team!!!!

Viduka reputation is mostly undeserved, performing far better for Leeds than say Alan Smith when they needed him to over the last couple of seasons. Ofcourse he is not up to the fight because he has a foreign sounding name.

Viduka is a much better player than Smith, always has been, always will be. Smith must be the over rated striker in this country. He's just a younger version of Dickov.....

A bit unfair to call Ricketts one of the worst footballers in the Premiership - He was amazing in his first year with Bolton - Then he played for England, lost confidence, and has been on a slump ever since. He ceratinly has the ability, but like Heskey, doesn't see to have the confidence anymore.

At least Ricketts doesn't throw his toys out of the pram every time something doesn't go his way...Viduka has to be one of the stroppiest s*its to ever pull on a football shirt...throw 'im on the barbie
