LEICESTERSHIRE were hopeful of getting their LV County Championship match underway today following an improvement in the conditions.

Umpires John Holder and Jeff Evans will conduct an 11.30am inspection in the hope that the match against Middlesex can start before lunch.

The first two days of the match were washed out by heavy rain which left the outfield saturated.

But a bright morning and a mopping up operation by the groundstaff has raised the hope that play will get off to a fairly prompt start today.

chance of a run chase tomorrow, leics 300odd for 2. Could be an exciting game.

Shame Maunders became our 4th player to fall in the 90s this season!
