Egypt's Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam is flying back to England after the postponement a friendly against Nigeria.
Mido returns to join his club Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday morning ahead of their FA Cup game against Leicester.
He was due to play an African Nations Cup warm-up game on Monday against Nigeria, which has now been postponed.
Egypt's assistant coach Shawky Gharieb said: "He said he wanted to return to England and since our match was cancelled and we approved his request."
Mido will then stay with his club until the 15 of January and will be available for their Premiership match against Liverpool.
He will then join Egypt just five days before their opening match against Libya in the Africa Nations Cup on 20 January in Cairo.

Totally agree. I dont think a loss makes much difference today. However a win would be excellent.glyn said:Nor me, I get wound up by fans/teams who don't bother about the cups. A win in this game would be such a boost to confidence and I don't think a cup run would take our focus away from the league.
And win or lose I'm sure it won't make a difference to CL's future.
highland fox said:Me neither Steven but I believe some are secretly hoping we get thrashed so they can 'crow' on even more about getting CL axed even more than they have for the last month.:icon_roll
