If you have upgraded with the same service provider then I assume you can just put your old sim card in, the number will be the same, but the priceplan can still be different.

Rather than using the old SIM, it's usually better to use the new one that comes with the phone. All you have to do is ring your service provider and they will swap the numbers between the two phones - job done in a couple of minutes.

i thought it takes about 3 days for it to come through, or is that just for 2 different networks?

Mine was swapped over while I actually speaking to them (Vodafone).

If you go into a Vodafone shop, they can suck all your contacts off your SIM and put them onto the new card.

That's for 2 different networks. When you transfer networks like I did recently, you have to ask the old network for the PAC code and then you have to give it to the new provider - that takes quite a few days to do.

Transfering number from one sim to another on the same network should be done instantly I would imagine.
