a drunken tramp told me that he thinks he read in the Daily Shit that Craig Levein will be leaving to form the league's first all Scots team- FC Kilt. (Apparantly their fanzine is going to be called The Southern Haggis). Alan Rough is in goal, but thats it for info so far.
Meanwhile Alan Maybury will be amongst the first group of players to run out on the moon; the 'IrishLeicester Kid'TM will be penning a deal with U.S team Rocket Rangers, who are part of the newly formed Cosmic league. The league plays all its fixtures off-world & Maybs is likely to face old team-mate Steve Howey who is part of the Russian Dynamo Callisto team. Maybury is "looking forward immensely to the challenges of playing in 1/10th of earths gravity " & "feels that his background at Leicester will equip him well to deal with peforming at matches with no atmosphere".
City meanwhile, are set to continue their tradition as one of the football league's most progressive outfits, by once again introducing new technology. Paul Mace has announced that Project Scrimp is well ahead of schedule & hopefully the first clone will be ready to take his place in the team come August. Despite only having reached only half-adult size, City boffins believe the genetically engineered striker will fit perfectly into the new City squad & is likely to win more headers than Mark de Vries, despite being some 2'7" shorter. Mace enthused :" we're really pleased with Project Scrimp - its a hi-tech solution for a high-tech stadium. Plus, as technically the clone is the property of the club, we dont have to pay any wages. Eventually all teams will be made this way." But Mace played down rumours that the club is set to extend the technology to replace the fans with enthusiatic docile clones in another groundbreaking initiative.
So - an exciting summer ahead !
