Two quizzed in Leicester 'chip shop murder'
Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was apparently stabbed outside a chip shop in Leicester.
The 43-year-old was found by officers called to Saffron Lane on Monday night following reports of an assault.
He was taken to the city's Royal Infirmary, where he died from what police believe was a stab wound.
A 27-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, both from Leicester, are being questioned on suspicion of murder.
The suspects were arrested in nearby Clifton Road, shortly after officers arrived on the scene at about 2115 GMT.
Forensic examinations
Clifton Road between Saffron Lane and New Park Road has been cordoned off to allow forensic examinations to be carried out.
Officers have spoken to a number of witnesses and are carrying out house-to house-inquiries.
Det Ch Insp Neil Castle, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are in the very early stages of our investigation and are trying to piece together exactly what happened.
"It is believed that the injured man suffered a stab wound, however a post-mortem examination will now be carried out.
"If anyone was in the area and witnessed the incident who has not yet spoken to the police, I would urge that you come forward and speak to us."
