Leaving out Canero, Heath and Wright who are all rumoured to be out, the above is the squad at the moment. Imo although small it is full of quality, in past season we have been used to bigger squad often full of crap bench fillers. I think we have a really strong midfield with 6 decent midfielder (although the jury is still out on Wilcox), and adding to it isn't a necessity, Tiatto, Morris (when fit) and O'Grady can play there if needed.

The defence also is looking very strong although I think it can be done with being added to. It's a young defence and Levein won't want to rush the likes of Stearman and Sheehan. Maybury, Stearman and McCarthy can all operate at right back, and Tiatto, Sheehan, Johannson and Maybury can play at left back. McCarthy, Stearman and Johannson also play in the center aswell as Dublin if needed, (although CL has made it clear that he sees him as a striker). So the Defence is quite versatile, but like Levein I think the left back position is a position needing strengthening.

It is clear the attack at the moment is a concern, David Connolly is the main striker with De Vries and Dublin behind him with O'Grady likely to break through this season after prasie from the boss. Dublin is most likely to be played upfront a lot more this season as Levein see's him as a striker. Most fans would prefer him to De Vries although I think he will have something to offer, there must be a lot more to the bloke than what we have seen as Levein has strong faith in him. Despite Connolly's disapointing season last term I think he will still be the main striker. I think Levein will want to bring in a young striker beside him who will be good for Connolly but also chip in with a lot of goals himself.

On the whole I'm really confident and I think that with a few more signings to come in the coming days that the squad will be sorted with plenty of time to prepare for the new season. We have a young looking squad filled with skillfull, enthusiastic and hard working professionals. Gone are the day of the old journeymen and pointless signings, we can now look foward to a new look Leicester City full of optimisum and hope for the future. Roll on August 6th. :icon_bigg

Good post.. although shouldn't Tiatto be in the Midfielders list????

I still think we need three players. Centre back, left back and striker.

with the addition of lovell things are looking really promising, squad looks far younger than last season, lots of 24/25 year olds, so hopefully will go into games with a lot more hunger and energy. but like steven said defence could do with being bolstered a bit, another LB and (if we can afford it) CB needed IMO

present starting line up (as levein might pick it)

Douglas

Tiatto
McCarthy
Johannsen
Maybury

Sylla
Williams/Hughes
Kisnorbo
Wilcox

Connolly
De Vries

looks pretty good IMO apart from the question mark over how many goals the front pair will produce

It is beginning to take shape now.

I would expect the following:

Douglas

New LB
McCarthy
Johansson
Maybury

Sylla
Williams
Kisnorbo
Tiatto

Connolly
de Vries

Subs:
Henderson
Hughes
Dublin
Lovell
and one from: New CB, Wilcox, Stearman, Gudjohnsson, Morris (ok, only joking about the last one!)

Hughes will definetely play, and be ahead of Williams. Other than that I think you've got it right :)

With MDV,Connelly,Dublin and hopefully Lovell then we will have four.

IF CL signs Lovell it wont be long before MDV is dropped and Lovell and connolly play up front.

I think the squad is really starting to take shape, in the majority of positions we have competition for places and we appear to have quality throughout the squad.

Up front we at last have decent options, and competition for places with De Vries, who I think will be a completely different player, Connolly, Dublin and Lovell. We look capable of scoring goals.

My team would be

Douglas

Maybury (Capt)
McCarthy
Johannson
New Left Back

Sylla
Kisnorbo
Williams
Hughes

De Vries
Connolly

Subs

Henderson
Stearman
Tiatto
Dublin
Lovell

Can't see CL starting without a ' Big Man ' upfront be it MDV or Dublin initially in most games.

I would have to agree that Hughes must be found a place in the starting line-up. Reading these potential line-ups fills me with anticipation for 6th August.....bring it on.

Won't happen I know but we could do worse that start with this 3-5-2 formation

Douglas

Maybury
McCarthy
Johannsen

Silla
Williams
Kisnorbo
Hughes
Tiatto

MDV
Connolly

At least it's an option.

Could work, but maybury at CB ??! :018: The potential line-ups show the good re-building job Levein has achieved so far, and lets hope we can get off to a good start and get everyone behind Levein and the boys.
COMMMMMON CITY!

Maybe but I think CL likes someone up there who 'holds the ball up' and from what I've seen of him that isn't Lovell's style

I think Tiatto will be in. Think he's a CL fav. And to be honest, think he'll probably be captain too. Judging by last year anyway. LB? I think that might be the midfield he'll play through. and it looks good!
