New Defender

Leicester Mercury reported today that Levein was chasing the services of a defender when he came across the possibility of signing Hughes. Obviously he went for Hughes and the rest is history, however the Mercury went on to say that Levein may continue to pursue this defender/a defender up until the March deadline for the football league.

Any rumours about who this may be?

Based on yesterdays performance I would say that we need a new defender and a new forward ASAP.

Though I think the priority has to be a centre half with a bit of pace! (I'm more than willing to see how Connolly and DeVries perform together.

Darren Moore has signeda new 3 year deal at WBA, so it cant be him were interested in, anyway he aint playing in Scotland!

hmm, must be a rangers player then if he stumbled across hughes. rite enough, rangers have just signed kyrgiakos, the big greek so maybe they were letting someone go. i heard theyre just giving kishanishvilli a new contract so wont be him. good god, not big marvin andrews??? he seems to be the logical choice except that hes still playing for the team ahead of kishanishvili. perhaps bob malcolm? he hasnt seen much first team action recently but hes quite highly thought of

Dont know where i read it Webbo put i heard CL wasnt after Hughes it was only after chasing this 'defender' that CL was aware that Hughes was avalible!

That's correct. But he didn't hear about Hughes from Rangers, he heard about Hughes from an agent. Maybe Hughes has the same agent as the defender he was trying to sign.

Well regardless of how he heard about Hughes...we need that defender. Our centre halves look very weak.

Kennedy from Celtic would be a good buy.Unfortunately I don'think they'd sell him and he is getting over a serious injury but I was well impressed with him whenever I saw him play.
