New Laptop/Product code

Alright guys!

My other half decided that my old laptop needed a drink of Coke (a 2litre bottle) however it didnt the offer in fact it killed it.

I recently got a new laptop from comet a acer 3694 a bargin at £299.00.

However when i open microsoft office programmes it wants a product code, when i enter this 25 digit code in, it says its incorrect when it clearly isnt.

Any Ideas?

THe code has been used before? I know there were a lot of problems with an update to Windows XP where the OEM codes used by resellers where being flagged as pirated even though they weren't. This may have carried through to certain versions of office and maybe Vista.

Where are you getting the product key from?
Which version of Office is it?
Did you install Office yourself or was it preinstalled on your laptop?

Its Office 2007 on Vista.

Its the Product Code on the bottom of the laptop.

Are you sure that's not for Windows, and you don't have a separate one for Office somewhere?

I'd be amazed if that was the product key for Office Scarbs.

Was it preinstalled on the laptop?

It's not always the case that they give it you, though if you got one of those "backup and restore" disks they sometimes give you it may be on there?

You shouldn't need it, it should be preconfigured.

Did it come with any kind of restore CDs?

they are at work so i cant check at the minute.

However there was one CD that came with it i remember that said on it, do not install unless you have brought some kind of other program.

ours was on a sticky barcode that is on the cover of the office handbook that came with the pc.
