They gave Best International Band to My Chemical Romance, but that was also up for worst album. What is that all about. The NME is a joke of a publication.

Re: NWE Awards

I watched this with Miss.Non Personality Laverne.

The Twang came up, look a bunch of twats. Discredited anything any prospect I thought they could be any good.

The Best Music DVD made me laugh, Arctic Monkeys's 2 4 minute videos DVD or Maximo Park's superb 15 song set shared from two venues and some other stuff.

The last bit was cringe worthy, up comes Conor Cockface, the editor who has ruined NME with the legend, Mick Jones. 'Godlike Genius Award' to......Primal Scream.

The best bit was Kate of Long Blondes showing an incredible amount of leg when presenting an award and Mick Jones playing guitar on 'Rock's by Primal Scream.

The worst bit - Killers doing Shadowplay

Its voted for by the readers/general public so they just shortlist the top 5 nominations.

However, the editor has made it into a hype rag eg Nu-Rave - I ask you. :icon_roll

Re: NWE Awards

To have someone who was such a lover of musicicians trying to do something new like John Peel asscoiated with a magazine who just just promotes the same old bands who try to do nothing new or interesting is a fecking insult to the great man himself :098:

It's just some indie bands playing radio friendly pop

As soon as they let Connor whatchamacallit become editor the NME's days were numbered

Re: NWE Awards

Anybody who knows the names of music journos and whom they work for obviously hasn't got a valid opinion of their own and instead feel the need to listen to these folk to gain their opinions.

The only music journo I have ever known the name of is Ross Halfin from Kerrang, I only know this because I sat next to him going to Japan.

Not really, Melton. I dont know any other journalist on NME or in the music press apart from this chap, because he's the editor of the biggest new music magazine in the world. A magazine whats has prided itself on being a trendsetter and to appear on the front used to be one of the most iconic thing a band could do.

We have been through this before reading a review is just like a second opinion, listening to one of your mates, no different except the reviewer is not biased like a friend would be.

i find the NME is a great gig list for the up coming months, all the bands avertise in it so i can plan my mnths ahead:038:

i much prefer rolling stone to NME

:018: Rolling Stone si just as bad but for older music instead of newer music.

A typical disussion at the offices Rolling Stone Magazine:

A: Who shall we have on the cover this week?
B: Bob Dylan?
A: No, we had Dylan on last week!
B: The Beatles then?
A: Yeah!
B: And then Dylan again next week...
