'No Signal Input#

When the monitor on my sisters computer is turned on, in says 'no signal input'.

Ive taken the wires out and out them back in again, but the same message keeps coming back.

anyone know how to solve this problem?

Is it connected to the graphics card?

edit - This usually means the computer is turned off doesn't it?

how do i find out if its connected to the graphics card?

I can switch the computer on fine but its the monitor - it says 'no signal input' for about 4 seconds and then that fades.

Also the light that tells you the monitor is on flashes on for about 8 seconds and then fades and then flashes on again.

It means that there is no signal going from the PC to the monitor.
Check the cable & connectors.

i have just unplug the cables and put them all back in again.

It still says 'no signal input'

when the computer is turned on the fan works so i assume that is OK!

if the cable is definatley secured at both ends then it could be your graphics adapter is broken or the cable is shot.

it happened after the power cuts yesterday, could that be anything to do with it?

Another question if it is fecked, will i need to buy a new computer, new monitor or both??

just been to a shop in Oadby, they said they would fit a graphics for 30/40 quid.

Is that a good deal?

Depends what you want but if you just want to get it up and running again then its not unreasonable if that includes fitting

Have you tried it with a different monitor, beg steal or borrow one before you go spending too much money (preferably an old bog standard crt monitor, not an all singing all dancing tft one). If you get it to boot up, it could well be the resolution or refresh rate of your graphics adapter, or you could simly need to download som enew drivers for it. If you still get the problem, it could well be your graphics adapter got fried in the power cut.

i got a call on Friday from the shop who said it wasnt the graphics card!

I didnt have another monitor to test it on at the time.

went into the shop earlier, and asked about.

They said the motherboard is the problem and they are looking for a board without a processor as this would be cheaper (about £50).
