Not receiving emails from the site?

If you use a Microsoft email service (Hotmail, Outlook, live.co.uk for example), you're probably not receiving emails from the site at the moment.

Emails sent to these addresses are being blocked by Microsoft, as the IP range the mail server is in is currently on a spam blacklist.

I have contacted Microsoft about this and I'm waiting for a response.


I'm assuming this is due to someone else in the same IP range sending spam. But there's a chance it's due to people reporting emails from Talking Balls as spam. So, a reminder, if you've decided you no longer want emails from the site, please use the unsubscribe link that's in every email, don't report it as spam. Emails from the site are only ever sent to people who have asked to receive them.

MS have refused to remove the IP address from their blacklist. So I'm in the process of settnig up a new mail server to send the notifications from. There will probably be some disruption to emails from the site while I do this.

No. They sent me an email that said "Our investigation has determined that the above IP(s) do not qualify for mitigation."

The email included links to two tools on their website to monitor email deliverability problems. One of the links went to a page not found error, I signed up for the other one, which doesn't show the IP address as having any problems. Shambles.

The block's now been lifted, so I've changed the settings back.

I'll keep the temporary mail server I set up yesterday running for a while in case it happens again...

This is happening again. A neighbouring IP address has been sending spam and Microsoft are blocking a range of IPs instead of just the spammer.

I expect it will be removed within a few days.
