This is not a thread to ram the words back down anyones throats, but to say i thought the reaction after the Burnley game was over the top, would be a huge understatement. O.K todays result only gets us three points, but thats 2 wins in 3 games, we are near mid table and suddenly the picture looks a little brighter. The Burnley game probaly came at the wrong time because had we played a top six side there would have been less pressure from the fans to win the game. Levein must be given time, he deserves that much or otherwise we won't deserve a decent manager to replace him. Plymouth away is another game where our fans will expect a result but lets not get carried away if it dosent happen. I think the fans should sit back and see how things develop over the next few games. There always be games like the Burnley match ,even in a promotion campaign the team are capable of giving 3 or 4 useless performances in the season, but under those circumstances they will get away with it. I hope now that we can start moving forward ,and a little more encouragement towards Levein and De Vries (who have certainly taken plenty) would help the cause.

the problem with this league is that it is so tight-if you lose you can drop loads of places and if you win you can move up loads aswell. I think most people will agree that while we are heading in the right direction, our performances need to improve to a level where we are playing well for a whole match not just one half-how many games this season have we lost when we have only really got into the game in the 2nd half?

IMO there's some good points from todays result.
De Vries is building a nice goal tally.
The players shown some bottle to win after falling behind, and when was the last time that happened?
They reacted in a positive way after a very poor game in the week.
We are within reach of the top half of the table, and a couple of quick results will change the mood entirely

Exactly!!! and generally that's all we ask.

6 points from a possible 9 is champions form, we are a long way off that i know, but its amazing how quick peoples mood can change and we may start backing the team soon :) the watford result was pretty much just accepted and not over celebrated, possibly because most people ignored where watford were in the league table on the morning of the game. the first goal today summed up the performance, we scrapped for whatever came our way...at times we looked class but kept the effort levels very high and i've always held hte belief that is all you need at this level (sunderland for example)

What was unacceptable about Tuesday that caused us to get really peed off was the level of performance - they looked disinterested. If they had performed with some sort of passion then I don't think we would have reacted how we did... it wasn't necessarily the loss but the manner of how we lost that bugged me...

quite.

Exactly, I can accept defeat, that is part and parcel of football, but what I am unwilling to accept was the poor attitude and lack of pride or passion that was displayed on tuesday night.

However the team showed excellent character and "bouncebackability" to respond in such a positive manner in yesterdays game, especially after going a goal down.

If we can maintain that level of performance week in week out, and that display of commitment, passion and pride, then regardless of the result you will hear no complaints from me.

best moment for me was paddy trying to strangle dicky stearman ........first sign of somebody giving a shit ive seen all season :icon_wink

exactly, people around me were moaning, I applauded him for showing that he cares. Gareth Williams - take note!!

At least on this board the over reaction to every result isn't as bad as 'other' boards I could mention.

One defeat on Tues we are the worst team ever, bound to be relegated and CL should be sacked along with half the team. One win 5 days later and they are saying we should be looking for players good enough to be here in 12 months when we are in the Prem!

Its that kind of mentality thats fecking the season up, we just need to accept a bit of inconsistency that a new team will have and get behind the boys for 90mins.

If we were shite get it off your chest on here not during the game and don't go overboard after every game.

But at least he meant it Lazzer,if he'd have killed him I would have forgiven him,he was doing it for the Shirt....

Great to see some passion from Paddy.

What amazed was the moron sat near me who was slagging Paddy off, telling him to leave the poor boy alone, well it's a mans game and hopefully will prove to be a good learning exercise for RS.

Was thinking exactly the same dunc!!!

Wasn't there someone on a certain board asking people to support/cheer for Cov in order to get Levein sacked ?

I agree Dunc. Although there is a fine line between some deserved abuse and being over the top. I wasn't at the game so people are entitled to say that i aint got a clue. But the situation is not unlike the MON era when the fans ran out of patience after the infamous Sheffield Utd game. MON team were not playing well at the time and then they had a dire match against the blades and it all became too much. Obviously we don't have the side that we had then, but all the same the fans are waiting for the team to turn the corner. Last Tuesday we played a beatable team and the hopes were higher after the previous result. At the end of the game we got a lacklustre performance infront of a dispirited crowd and i can understand why our fans felt like giving up.
