1 - Martin Keown

After many doubts when first signed, I don't think Keown will have many critics these days after a very solid month in the games that he played. Unfortunately injury prevented him from winning the player of the month award, but the beautiful defender is proving to be an excellent acquisition when fit.
Monthly Rating: 7.36
Best Performance: Coventry City (A) - 8.50
Worst Performance: Stoke City (H) - 6.50
Minutes Played: 38%

2 - Kevin Harper

Unfortunately his rating is only based on one game away at Coventry where he impressed hugely. He was sent back to Portsmouth soon after this game by Bassett due to his injury proneness. On the positive side, he did show that having natural width in the side is a huge boost for the team.
Monthly Rating: 7.26
Best Performance: Coventry City (A) - 7.26
Worst Performance: Coventry City (A) - 7.26
Minutes Played: 12%

3 - Matt Elliott

Veteran defender and club captain Matt Elliott certainly welcomed the first team opportunity he was given with open arms putting in three solid performances against Preston (CC), Stoke and Cardiff. Based on those performances, seems like a worthwhile backup to keep in the squad.
Monthly Rating: 7.10
Best Performance: Cardiff City (A) - 7.25
Worst Performance: Preston North End (H) (CC) - 7.00
Minutes Played: 39%

4 - Danny Tiatto

The versatile Australian won the player of the month award this month for putting in a series of solid performances whilst a lot of the team around him were disappointing. Not only is he a workaholic on the pitch, he is full of quality which is why he has helped out the midfield on many occasions during October. Too good for this level?
Monthly Rating: 7.03
Best Performance: Stoke City (H) - 7.99
Worst Performance: Cardiff City (A) - 5.88
Minutes Played: 76%

5 - Kevin Pressman

The veteran keeper affectionately known by many nicknames had a fairly solid month, bouncing back from his howler against Preston at the start of the month with a few very good performances between the sticks. Doesn't seem to inspire confidence in the fans or his defenders however, but has done OK as a deputy during October.
Monthly Rating: 6.59
Best Performance: Cardiff City (A) - 7.50
Worst Performance: Preston North End (H) - 4.38
Minutes Played: 100%

6 - David Connolly

Once again, Connolly is probably the player that could be debated most between fans. On one side you can look at his history and he has scored goals wherever he has played, so is it just the team around him? On the other side he has had chances and the woodwork seems to have his name written all over it. You decide!
Monthly Rating: 6.40
Best Performance: Ipswich Town (H) - 8.25
Worst Performance: Preston North End (H) - 5.28
Minutes Played: 74%

7 - Joey Gudjonsson

An average month from the fiery Icelandic anchor man. Has never been a firm favourite with fans as yet but has shown signs particularly in the cup game with Preston that he can perform the holding role in midfield particularly well allowing a more creative midfielder to attack more. Hopefully a good month is in store for him soon.
Monthly Rating: 6.21
Best Performance: Preston North End (H) (CC) - 7.16
Worst Performance: Preston North End (H) - 5.68
Minutes Played: 43%

8 - Trevor Benjamin

The current cult hero of Leicester, big Trev has not had a bad month overall. An impressive 35 minutes against Preston has not really been followed up in his performances that followed this. Whether he will be given a chance under Craig Levein remains to be seen.
Monthly Rating: 6.19
Best Performance: Preston North End (H) - 7.31
Worst Performance: Stoke City (H) - 5.13
Minutes Played: 28%

9 - Matt Heath

One of the three players who has played every minute of every game in October, young Heath has had an average month at the back, starting and ending the month badly with a good spell in between. He needs to be more consistent if he is going to establish himself as a permanent fixture in the side.
Monthly Rating: 6.18
Best Performance: Ipswich Town (H) - 7.08
Worst Performance: Cardiff City (A) - 5.31
Minutes Played: 100%

10 - James Scowcroft

Quite a disappointing month for the established first team regular. Spent his first part of a game on the bench against Coventry coming on to set up a goal in that game. Scowy is likely to need to improve from this month to maintain his first team spot under the new manager.
Monthly Rating: 6.08
Best Performance: Ipswich Town (H) - 6.96
Worst Performance: Cardiff City (A) - 4.94
Minutes Played: 88%

11 - Gareth Williams

Due to his long term toe injury , Gareth Williams has had a pretty average month, never really catching the eye in midfield. I for one and hopefully many others are eagerly awaiting his comeback under Levein who hopefully can help him to reach his potential within the team and truly show his worth.
Monthly Rating: 5.99
Best Performance: Coventry City (A) - 6.74
Worst Performance: Preston North End (H) - 4.31
Minutes Played: 55%

12 - Jordan Stewart

Jordan's improvement from the start of the season has slowly continued throughout the month showing flashes of what he is capable of. Having a partner with the quality of Tiatto helps him out a lot, but compared to the way he started the season he has certainly taken some large steps forward over the past two months.
Monthly Rating: 5.92
Best Performance: Ipswich Town (H) - 6.80
Worst Performance: Preston North End (H) (CC) - 4.69
Minutes Played: 84%

13 - Lilian Nalis

A few rather disappointing performances from Lil have led to an overall disappointing month by the Frenchman's standards. Awarded the 'Two Steps Back' award, hopefully this will inspire him during October to be a bit more consistent and bounce right back.
Monthly Rating: 5.91
Best Performance: Stoke City (H) - 7.08
Worst Performance: Cardiff City (A) - 4.63
Minutes Played: 66%

14 - Scot Gemmill

The ageing Scot has not really been given many opportunities to impress this month but the chances he has been given he has hardly taken with open arms. A fairly decent performance against Stoke was not really backed up with his stints against Cardiff or Coventry. Is he still good enough even at this level?
Monthly Rating: 5.84
Best Performance: Stoke City (H) - 6.88
Worst Performance: Cardiff City (A) - 5.00
Minutes Played: 35%

15 - Keith Gillespie

Once again Gillespie has been given very few opportunities but it is easy to see why. His inconsistency seems to annoy managers and fans alike, and having only been given two opportunities this month, he could have done better. Perhaps will be given more opportunities under Levein.
Monthly Rating: 5.66
Best Performance: Preston North End (H) (CC) - 6.69
Worst Performance: Cardiff City (A) - 4.63
Minutes Played: 15%

16 - Richard Stearman

Thought I would give a mention to young Stearman who despite having only played five minutes was given his debut by Bassett away at Cardiff. Let's not go over the top but I can't remember a young defender at Leicester ever making such an impact within the space of six months. Well done to the lad!
Monthly Rating: 5.63
Best Performance: Cardiff City (A) - 5.63
Worst Performance: Cardiff City (A) - 5.63
Minutes Played: 1%

17 - Jason Wilcox

Unfortunately this could be the last review that I write about Wilcox this season after he picked up a serious knee injury at Coventry and is likely to be out for the season. He had started to show signs of improvement and his injury has left the side short of cover on the left hand side. Hopefully this is a problem that Levein will address.
Monthly Rating: 5.59
Best Performance: Preston North End (H) - 6.09
Worst Performance: Preston North End (H) (CC) - 5.25
Minutes Played: 24%

18 - Chris Makin

A very poor month from the right back who has played every minute of every game during October. His best performance was a very average performance against Stoke, with his distribution seeming to cause most annoyance within the fans. It will be interesting to see how new manager Craig Levein sees his role within the squad.
Monthly Rating: 5.23
Best Performance: Stoke City (H) - 5.99
Worst Performance: Cardiff City (A) - 4.00
Minutes Played: 100%

19 - Tommy Wright

Much has been said about the lack of opportunities that Tommy Wright is being given and over the course of this month he has only been given an hour. However he did come in for quite a bit of criticism as he was given a good chance to shine the Carling Cup game at home to Preston but was disappointing by all accounts. Where to go now for Tommy?
Monthly Rating: 4.99
Best Performance: Preston North End (H) - 5.48
Worst Performance: Preston North End (H) (CC) - 4.50
Minutes Played: 10%

20 - Nikos Dabizas

Injury has hampered Dabizas this month, only playing in both of the Preston games at the start of the month. However as in September, the defender has proved to be very erratic. The fact that he uses his arms to defend a lot doesn't do him any favours. Perhaps thinks he is better than he is.
Monthly Rating: 4.77
Best Performance: Preston North End (H) - 5.16
Worst Performance: Preston North End (H) (CC) - 4.38
Minutes Played: 23%

21 - Dion Dublin

Having won the dreaded 'Flop of the Month' award, Dion has disappointed greatly during October. Some dreadful performances at home to Preston and away at Cardiff have got him into the fans' bad books. Seems to lack the ability to time his jumps and Craig Levein has already indicated he isn't part of his first team plans, the future looks bleak for Dion.
Monthly Rating: 4.70
Best Performance: Coventry City (A) - 6.89
Worst Performance: Preston North End (H) - 3.54
Minutes Played: 65%

22 - Nathan Blake

Another very poor month from Blake. He did show some signs of promise against Preston in the Carling Cup also claiming his first goal for the club that night, but showed in his half an hour stint against Cardiff why his first team opportunities have been few and far between.
Monthly Rating: 4.66
Best Performance: Preston North End (H) (CC) - 6.31
Worst Performance: Cardiff City (A) - 3.00
Minutes Played: 26%

Some super stats there mate, well done

Extremely interesting.

Take out Keown (who has hardly played) and Harper (gone) and the statistics tell their own story.

Almost all of our front line players are rating in the sixes or (in far too many cases) below. Connolly, a rare seven, may have flattered to deceive because he hasn't done his principle job which is scoring goals - period.

Can anyone need more evidence of the point many have made in September/October that we must have new and better players quickly to compliment the organisational improvement that Levein has unquestionably made.

No player in a decent side should average less than 6.5 and most should rate 6.75-7.5. You can cite all sorts of reasons and excuses for underperforming but that is the simple truth.

It is also why we are six points from the relegation zone - in case that statistic has been missed.

fantastic sheffield. good man!

Good work Statto, (is your name neville?)

It's quite interesting to see that the rating are so low.

Yeh but does this mean we are too critical as fans overall or has it actually been a pretty poor month from everyone?

A bit of both I'd say. Too many draws!

I don't fink some are critical enough, are team is very poor simple as, we play dross football not surprising with the blatant lack of quality in the side, when i go to watch the city i'm shocked to hear that people feel players like Stewart have played well, when imo they've been bloody awful.
