1 - Martin Keown
After many doubts when first signed, I don't think Keown will have many critics these days after a very solid month in the games that he played. Unfortunately injury prevented him from winning the player of the month award, but the beautiful defender is proving to be an excellent acquisition when fit.

Unfortunately his rating is only based on one game away at Coventry where he impressed hugely. He was sent back to Portsmouth soon after this game by Bassett due to his injury proneness. On the positive side, he did show that having natural width in the side is a huge boost for the team.

3 - Matt Elliott
Veteran defender and club captain Matt Elliott certainly welcomed the first team opportunity he was given with open arms putting in three solid performances against Preston (CC), Stoke and Cardiff. Based on those performances, seems like a worthwhile backup to keep in the squad.

4 - Danny Tiatto
The versatile Australian won the player of the month award this month for putting in a series of solid performances whilst a lot of the team around him were disappointing. Not only is he a workaholic on the pitch, he is full of quality which is why he has helped out the midfield on many occasions during October. Too good for this level?

5 - Kevin Pressman
The veteran keeper affectionately known by many nicknames had a fairly solid month, bouncing back from his howler against Preston at the start of the month with a few very good performances between the sticks. Doesn't seem to inspire confidence in the fans or his defenders however, but has done OK as a deputy during October.

6 - David Connolly
Once again, Connolly is probably the player that could be debated most between fans. On one side you can look at his history and he has scored goals wherever he has played, so is it just the team around him? On the other side he has had chances and the woodwork seems to have his name written all over it. You decide!

7 - Joey Gudjonsson
An average month from the fiery Icelandic anchor man. Has never been a firm favourite with fans as yet but has shown signs particularly in the cup game with Preston that he can perform the holding role in midfield particularly well allowing a more creative midfielder to attack more. Hopefully a good month is in store for him soon.

The current cult hero of Leicester, big Trev has not had a bad month overall. An impressive 35 minutes against Preston has not really been followed up in his performances that followed this. Whether he will be given a chance under Craig Levein remains to be seen.

One of the three players who has played every minute of every game in October, young Heath has had an average month at the back, starting and ending the month badly with a good spell in between. He needs to be more consistent if he is going to establish himself as a permanent fixture in the side.

10 - James Scowcroft
Quite a disappointing month for the established first team regular. Spent his first part of a game on the bench against Coventry coming on to set up a goal in that game. Scowy is likely to need to improve from this month to maintain his first team spot under the new manager.

Due to his long term toe injury , Gareth Williams has had a pretty average month, never really catching the eye in midfield. Jordan's improvement from the start of the season has slowly continued throughout the month showing flashes of what he is capable of. Unfortunately this could be the last review that I write about Wilcox this season after he picked up a serious knee injury at Coventry and is likely to be out for the season.
