From the LM:

City have also been keeping an eye on the progress of their young forwards Chris O'Grady and Tommy Wright, who are on loan at Rushden and Blackpool respectively.

Levein, coach Peter Houston and academy director Jon Rudkin have all watched O'Grady.

The 19-year-old is Rushden's current player of the month and has scored three goals in 15 appearances.

Wright has also been watched, although the loan move to the Seasiders was made with a view to it becoming permanent.

Levein said: "We have had them watched. That's the idea of putting them out on loan."

Get O'Grady in the starting line up I say. What have we got to lose? :102:

We need a goalscorer. He's scored three goals in 18 games two divisions below ours. Hardly prolific.
Maybe when he comes back he'll be worth a place on the bench.

At least he knows where the back of the net is. Not like HUUUUUUUUME and Elvis.

Scoring goals breeds confidence and he has been their player of the month. I know he is probably not good enough to score regular goals at this level, but he would be worth a place on the bench IMO.

If you're basing it on his (poor) goalscoring record we may as well have Joey up front, his scoring record this season is better than O'Grady's!

He was player of the month in a team that's struggling two divisions below ours, he's got one goal in his last 10 games, how the hell does that make him worth putting straight into our starting line up?

because people are clutching at straws and making mountains out of molehills. hume has created plenty of chances in games he has played for us and that is promising even if he has missed all but one. hammond isnt good enough but is a decent wing player, devries and hume upfront. you may have been sarcastic about joey but if hume is unavailable he is probably our best bet at the moment to partner devries

I have seen a lot of strange things happen in football. To be honest I am not even sure O'Grady is a striker, he certainly does not appear to be a natural goal scorer (I sound like Glen Hoddle-Owen)

All I want is the hungry, young, confident players CL promised us at the start of his reign. We have got the young, now I want the hungry and confident and I don't see any reason why O'Grady would not fit into this mould Webbo.

Maybe I am wrong and am just clutching at straws. But I am LCFC through and through and I am sick of feeling sh*t on a Saturday evening because of how crap we have played again. I have been backing CL all seaon against his doubters on this forum, but even my patience is now wearing a little thin, although I think we should stick with him until at least the end of the season.

It is not quite broke yet so why fix it? However there are one or two cracks starting to appear!!!!:frown: :frown:

I completely agree with you PlymouthFox, I am absolutely sick of the feeling of walking away from the Walkers thinking we were sh!te, but I don't think putting O'Grady in the team is gonna make much of a difference to that sickening feeling...

In fairness to O'Grady, I work near R&D and went to see them v Northampton earlier this season. He had the awareness and turn of speed to make his opponents look silly. Unfortunately his strike partner would look out of his depth in the conference and their midfield is pish as well, so he doesn't really stand a chance.

Good comparison, if O'Grady's as good a striker as Owen then I'm sure you're as good a manager as Hoddle. I saw him against Oxford in the pre-season and he looked very average in a game where even Wilcox looked class.
