Scenario -

We win our quarter final match.

Arsenal, Man Utd and Spurs (or Newcastle), all reached the semi-finals of the F.A. cup (which is quite likely)

The same 3 teams above finished in the top four of the Premiership.

Would we qualify for the Uefa Cup by default?

Don't hold your breath. ;-)

answer is no I think.

FA Cup winner goes to europe.
If winner already qualified via other means eg. champions league then FA Cup runner up goes into europe.
If runner up already in europe then highest placed league team not in europe will take the place (someone in the premiership)

true and the last two times in Europe we have had shite draws...Red Star and A. Mardid!!

tell you what i would some more european football soon though..

Europe would be great if we had a big squad and plenty of quality. The eufa cup as been watered down though and is not the competion it used to be.Some of Boro's and Newcastles group games were against teams i've never heard of. At least we lost to good opposition.

Forget europe. I believe we can be serious promotion contenders next season and don't need this distraction.

I agree with this, I would much rather be playing Premiership football back where we belong!

My point is that we don't have at this time a team to tackle an xtra competition. We don't need yellow/red cards, suspensions, injuries and fatigue. 46 lge games is to many anyway.Wigan ,Ipswich ,and Sunderland have exited the cup this season rather swiftly, but i'd sooner swap the f.a.cup for their lge positions as it stands.

This is worthy of a thread on its own (preferably with no poll attached). ;-)
