Why is it one rule for LCFC and another rule for others?

When Wise was here and it kicked off in Finland, the PFA warned us that we were treading on ice if we sacked him for what he did to Davidson.

Yesterday on teletext ( and it would have been elsewhere too) the PFA said Newcastle would be within their rights to sack both Bowyer and Dyer for their outburst on the pitch. I dont know the exact wording they used but it basically said that they were representing the club and such actions were unacceptable.

Why the U turn? or is it just that Taylor is a biased wanker?

I think the last part says it all really.

PFA chief says brawlers could be sacked
(Filed: 03/04/2005)

Professional Footballers' Association chief executive Gordon Taylor has said Newcastle would have a case to dismiss Lee Bowyer and Kieron Dyer, who were sent off after brawling with each other during the Magpies' 3-0 defeat by Aston Villa on Saturday.

Manager Graeme Souness has insisted the pair still have futures at St James' Park after they apologised publicly for their disgraceful antics.

However, Taylor expressed the serious nature of the incident when he confirmed termination of players' contracts was an option to clubs in dealing with extreme circumstances.

Taylor said: "That is always open to an employer if they believe the employee's behaviour is gross misconduct.

"Nobody could but say that was gross misconduct, to be fighting with team-mates and getting yourself sent off and maybe missing key games for the club in the future.

"It is embarrassing, unprofessional and not acceptable."

Bowyer and Dyer must serve an automatic three-match ban which accompanies dismissals for violent conduct.

However, the Football Association's disciplinary body might feel further action is appropriate and could charge either or both players.

In a similar incident, former Leicester City player Dennis Wise was sacked by the Foxes after breaking team mate Callum Davidson's jaw with a cheap shot. The incident took place after a poker game in which Wise got all mardy 'cos Davidson refused to offer double or quits in a game of snap.

Wise then tried to shaft LCFC and finish the already vulnerable club by taking them to court. The PFA on this occasion did what they do best i.e. nothing.

Bowyer should be sacked and banned from ever setting foot on a pitch again. He's racist thug and as been given another chances.

to play professional football again.

It would seem to me that the two words, professional football, are being used as a proper noun. A proper noun is a noun which names a specific person, place, or thing.

I contend that Professional Football is a thing in that it has its own characteristics in terms of form and function. As proper nouns are capitalised and I would not object to the P and F being capitalised in professional football. ;-)

That's brilliant!

Also, you say a proper noun is noun names a specific thing, so if a chair had a leg chopped off, would it then be a Chair? (No, it'd be a wonky stool type thing)

The key word is "specific". I shall put the inadequacy of your response down to the fact that it is first thing in the morning.

How many instances of an item does there have to be in order for that item to stop being described as specific?

The use of the indefinite article will always suggest that the item is non-specific.
