Fair result. Set up stall not to lose and achieved it. It's exactly what the opposition does at the Walkers. Pity we didn't nick a goal might have been interesting then as they weren't overly concerned to go all out. Safety first I think but we matched them.
Douglas 7 - did what he had to do well
Maybury 6 - Better but still not back to his best
Johansson 6 - Did the job well on the left side
Dublin 8 - Marshalled the defence well, used the ball well with short passes, seemed as though he has realise his middle & long range passing is naff
McCarthy 7 - Good steady return to the team, great propect long term. Needs to cut out the silly tackle that keep getting him booked
Sylla 6 - Steady game, drifts out of the game to much
Hughes 7 - Hopefully the player that the rest of the team will built round, fitness improving all the while now. Class act.
Gudjonsson 6 - Steady but unspectacular. Must learn that one goal a year from distance doesn't mean that he must waste positions of attack by shooting long range all the while. Fair enough when there is no other options around.
Kirsnorbo 7 - Fitness improving. Showed that he could be the man for that vital link between defence and midfield. Worked hard at both ends.
Hamill 6 - Took a long time getting into the game. Signs are there of a good outlet down the left.
De Vries 6 - Lonely task up front alone. Has shown previuosly he can do it but unlike yesterday he needs more back up from the midfield for this position to be completely successful.
Hume 6 - Can't wait to see him in full flow in a attack minded formation. Gradually coming to terms to playing with a different team and approach.
Hammond - Not on long enough but get the feeling with him that once a goal goes in the touch paper will be lit and a lot more to come.

Unfortunatly I tend to think that this could be the approach that we need in away matches. Will hopefully lead to points away from home and sneeking a few wins. We seen it done often enough by others down at the Walkers and losing points from matches we have dominated with possession.

I think CL likes not to lose first then start to build a more "playing" side. ;)

Douglas 6 - was lucky to get away with the 'foul' on Cort
Maybury 5 - way, way below the form of last year
Johansson 5 - very average player
Dublin 7 - did well, marshalled the defence effectively
McCarthy 6 - had the obligatory moment of madness and still gets turned too easily for my liking
Sylla 5 - is he any good? seems to have talent somewhere but doesn't know how to apply himself, hardly ever beats the defender
Hughes 6 - looked unfit and was struggling but still quality
Gudjonsson 6 - got stuck in and showed urgency had one excellent shot one best described as excrement
Kirsnorbo 4 - poor, added little, none of the battling 'Lennon' link play I was expecting
Hamill 3 - was he on the pitch?
De Vries 5 - doesn't work well as a striker, even less effective when by himself, missed a great chance
Hume 6 - lively, worked very hard but no shooting chances created
Hammond 6 - pacey and energetic but can't see him ever scoring!

We kept a clean sheet but never got any real control of the game.

I can totally understand what Levein did yesterday and why, you could see Wolves were also desperate not to give anything away - there's a lot of talk about our negativity but as soon as we got the ball in their half they had 11 men back.

Hughes could have provided the spark we desperately needed in midfield but he looked knackered after 10 minutes.

It was all very workman like and quickly became dull. If Hughes or MDV had put away their chances in the first half it might have been a very different match.

Our support was also absolutely shocking yesterday - the only time it got anything like going was in the queue for refreshments as half time!

A game definately to chalk up in "what else could I have spent £27 on" category.

Agree with this: This Joey could of had a 7/8 though. He was MOTM for me.

Carp game, one of the worst I've been to for months.

I am sure though if you read tonight's Mockery, Bill Anderson will say they all played out of their skins and were unlucky - at least 8/10 for all of them too I would wager...
