Confirmed Transfer Praet loaned to Torino

Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet will spend the 2021/22 season on loan at Serie A side Torino, subject to international clearance.

The 27-year-old joined City in August 2019 and has made 60 appearances for the Club in all competitions, scoring three goals.

A product of Genk’s youth academy, Praet joined Anderlecht in May 2010 and went on to feature for the Belgian side 184 times before spending three seasons in Italy with Sampdoria.

The Belgium international made his debut for City in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and scored his first goal for the Club at home to Southampton in January 2020.

Praet will now link up with Torino, who are next in action against Salernitana on Sunday 12 September.

Shame it's not worked out. Feel like Rodgers hasn't given him a fair run in the side but it's understandable when Tielemans, Ndidi and Maddison are all ahead of him. We're overstocked in midfield and need to try and move a few on to free up room to bring in players where we need them.

I like him, but like I said the other day the only role he fits into would be Youri's position, but he's nowhere near as good as Tielemans and it's not worth keeping him as backup to only one position, particularly when we now have Soumare who would probably also be used as a Youri backup.

I'm assuming it's loan with an option to buy. Hopefully it still frees up the funds we need for our own additions. But there could also be a role for Praet next season if Youri moves on next summer...
