Simultaneous trips to Rotherham United and Stoke City are the first fixtures to be confirmed in Leicester City’s 2019 pre-season schedule.

The Foxes will deploy first team squads to both the AESSEAL New York Stadium and the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday 27 July, as Brendan Rodgers seeks to step up the preparation of all playing personnel just two weeks before the start of the new Premier League campaign.

The 27 July double-header falls in the midway stage of City’s pre-season fixture schedule, with further matches to be confirmed in due course.

The 2019/20 Premier League season begins on the weekend of 10/11 August, with the season’s fixtures to be released on Thursday 13 June.

Pre-season visits to Rotherham have been good omens for City in recent years. Leonardo Ulloa was on target twice in a 3-1 win following promotion from the Championship in 2014, while Riyad Mahrez and David Nugent found the net in a 2-1 success a year later ahead of the Foxes’ historic Premier League triumph.

Stoke, meanwhile, has been the setting for a recent series of pulsating Premier League clashes between the two sides, with each of City’s last three visits to the Potteries ending in 2-2 draws.

There was a strange video posted on the official Twitter account yesterday WITH Swedish, USA and Greek flags, which I assume was something to do with pre-season games.

We're visiting all the nicest places. Hopefully Gateshead's next on the list.
