Leicester City are closing in on their next signing - striker Joseph-Desire Job from French club Sedan.
The Cameroon international would be City's eighth newcomer since Martin Allen took over as manager.
And, confirming City's interest in Job, chairman Milan Mandaric revealed that there could still be “four or five'' more newcomers to follow.
Mandaric said of the Job deal: “We are working on this. We have made an offer to him and we hope we can sort it out in the next two or three days.
“He is just the sort of striker we have been looking for. He is strong physically, and he knows English football well from his time at Middlesbrough.
“He has experience of football in the Premiership which is where we are trying to lift this club back up to.''
The 29-year-old Job has won 46 international caps for Cameroon, for whom he has scored six goals. He joined Middlesbrough in 2000 when the Teessiders paid Lens £3million for him. He left the Riverside last year, joining Sedan on a free transfer.
He scored 22 goals in 112 appearances (37 as a substitute) for Boro and had loan spells at FC Metz and Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad. He has been in discussions with City after Sedan were relegated from Ligue 1 last month.
The City squad return tomorrow for pre-season training with seven new faces already secured and Job would be far from the last if City have their way.
Mandaric said: “It is a lot of work when you are completely rebuilding. From what I saw towards the end of last season, I was not impressed, and it needed more than just one or two new players to put it right. Job would give us the striker we need.
"All departments still need strengthening, so there could be four or five new players still to arrive. You have to do what you have to do and I am going to turn every which way I can to give the supporters a reason to be positive and to make up for all their previous disappointments.''
