Foxes boss Nigel Pearson welcomed back his squad for pre-season training today, amid traditionally sweltering conditions, as the build-up to the Coca-Cola Championship campaign kicked off.
The six summer signings, Robbie Neilson, Chris Weale, Dany N'Guessan, Astrit Ajdarevic, Wayne Brown and Jack Hobbs, were all in attendance and Pearson was delighted to welcome them to the club.
He said: "It is always good to get new people in but, like the players who were here before them, it is about them giving themselves the best chance.
"As long as we have competition for places, and it is healthy, that is going to be vital for us and again to get success in any form you need to have a good squad ethic and pre-season is the opportunity for players to set their stall out.
"It is about getting the balance right, not bringing in too many. There may be more wheeling and dealing to be done but again it is all about the balance of the squad."
The high temperatures are the last thing players need when going through their paces and Pearson added: "The first few days is about assessing where they are but generally speaking they are in pretty good condition and the next two or three days are all about re-testing them to see where they are."
Spirits were understandably high, coming back fresh from last season's brilliant League One title and Pearson said: "The mood should be good but again the balance needs to be right between taking that forward and making sure it does not detract from the challenge ahead.
"We should go into the new season with confidence and I think the important thing is that we prepare ourselves correctly during the pre-season and give us the best chance of having another good season."
