Connolly probably realised we had a better chance of getting promoted than Sunderland.

Keown probably decided he didn't want to play Premiership football because he felt he couldn't cut it for another year, or didn't want to play against Arsenal or something, and we have a better chance of going up than West Ham or Reading :)

Oh, Keown wanted to join because it will give him a shot at being a coach as well:

Martin Keown was lured to Leicester City by the prospect of taking his first steps on the coaching ladder.
The former England international has signed a one-year deal with the relegated Foxes after severing his ties with Arsenal in the summer and he is looking to help them return to The Premiership.

His playing duties will be combined with aiding manager Micky Adams with the coaching at The Walkers Stadium.

"Martin wanted to go somewhere with a chance of success," said Adams.

"He had a lot of offers but I sold it to him on the basis that, although I want him out on the pitch, I also want him to get stuck into a bit of coaching.

"He has been at one of the most successful football clubs in the country for over a decade, listening to one of the most highly respected coaches in the game.

"So, if he hasn't learnt anything off Arsene Wenger, I'll be disappointed.

"I know Martin will organise things on the pitch, then he can come and work with the kids who will benefit from his experience."
