I didn't feel that it was that bad a performance, we passed the ball well from the centre of the park (Williams and Gudjonsson looked the part) and we had a number of opportunities. Obviously the defending was poor, especially the second goal where Gillespie needlessly gave it away and Stewart committed a ridiculous foul. The thing that did concern me was the way MA stood and did very little, unlike his counterpart who got very animated and lively on the touchline. Cork was left to direct (god help us) and also left to do the post-match interview. The team captain was subbed after 30 odd minutes for unknown reasons. We don't look like a happy camp. Preston, on the other hand looked spirited and wanted to win so badly. That got them through I feel. It was a great effort from them because the penalty we got was highly debatable and the guy didn't deserve to walk for it.
Although I have publically stuck up for MA, I can see where people come from when they question his management style. He needs to be seen as a leader, get everyone fighting for the cause, his cause and then we might win a few games by just playing as a unit. The spirit that we are acclaimed for is evidently not there.
So what is the answer? I would say stick with him and things will improve, but I wouldn't be too surprised to see him leaving the club very shortly.
