on the way to Asda this arvo and had Radio 5Live on and listened to an interview with the Tigers chairman.
after talking about the rugby for a few minutes they moved onto the groundshare- apparently Premier Rugby have said today that they are happy with the groundshare to go ahead ONLY if Tigers get the 'primacy of tenure'...and they mean they come first in ALL fixture decisions.

now forgive me for being thick for a mo..... but Tim Davies said at the open meeting that he had spoken to the relevant people regarding this and according to them football ALWAYS gets primacy....

the Tigers man thinks this is the main obstacle towards the groundshare(personally i think LCFC have to get Teachers to agree more than anything else!!)

i really wish both sides would get together and tell everyone what's really happening and where things stand at the mo instead of coming out with opposite statements all the time. do they think fans don't take any notice of what both sides are saying?

i think the tigers need this move more than us - a lot of the stands at welford road are made of timber and so a redevelopment is urgently needed and its estimated that the INITIAL redevelopment would come to £18 million, and we all know these things tend to spiral

I mentioned this fixture problem the day after the announcement. Both Governing Bodies say there fixtures must have preference over the other.Reading and Watford don't have the problem because they aren't 'groundsharing' the Rugby Clubs pay the Football Club to play there.Hull and Wigan share with Rugby League Clubs whose Governing Bodies rules maybe different as well as Rugby League being played in the Summer months...I think

Our understanding is the fixtures will work as follows, based on how the fixtures are currently set:

The Rugby fixtures - either home or away game (but not the opposition) are chosen first - these are not made public.

Those home dates will then be fed into the Football Leagues computer with the venue unavailable.

The City fixtures will then be announced.

The Rugby fixtures will be announced last

So who has got primacy of tenure in this instance & does it really matter when you consider most key dates as:

1) 1st City match of the season, Tigers season hasn't started

2) Boxing Day - Tigers don't play

3) Last City match of the season, Tigers season already over.

The rest of the season, do we really care as long as we get Saturday games.

The only complication we can see is FA Cup games, as the draw gives no control.

With all that said, BF is right the deal with Teachers needs sorting first, before any further progress is made. At the beginning of this week that certainly wasn't the case.
