I've had a few PMs and now a message in the WEEK EIGHT tables thread, asking about promotion and relegation at the end of this Prediction League season.

As I wrote at the start of the season, I want to do an experimental head-to-head league for the rest of the Football League season. With 23 Football League games left, this will entail Leagues of 24 teams who will play each other once.

At the end of this season, four teams will be promoted from each of the Fizzy and Chumps Leagues. Sufficient teams will then be relegated to give 24 points in each League.

At the moment, the Premier League has 26 teams. This means that 6 teams will be relegated. Next year's Premier League will therefore comprise:
the top 20 Premier League teams from the current season
the top 4 Fizzy League teams from the current season

The Fizzy League has 24 teams. This means that 6 teams will be relegated. Next year's Fizzy League will therefore comprise:
the 6 relegated teams from the Premier League
the Fizzy League teams who finish this season in position 5 through to position 18
the top 4 Chumps League teams from the current season

The Chumps League will comprise:
the 6 relegated teams from the Fizzy League
the remainder of the Chumps League teams from the current season

I know that this leaves us with one too many teams but there are a few 'inactive' teams and one of these will be dropped. Inactive teams will also be dropped to make way for any new team that wants to join in. WARNING - if you have been inactive in the Prediction League but want to avoid being dropped from the League, please let me know - or better still, get some predictions sent in!

I'm confused.

Doesn't take much and I've got a cold.

This is going to get very confusing. Why change everything?

We're going head to head for the rest of the season. That needs leagues of 24 teams to match the 23 games that are left in the season so that everybody plays everybody else.

When I raised this idea at the start of the current season, it seemed to get a good response. The necessity of 'evening up' the divisions was mentioned then without anybody raising any doubt.

Were you responsible for the final part of the Scottish season too? And the rugby?

Don't know FA about Rugby, but the Scottish system is nothing like what is going to happen. It will be just 24 teams playing each other one - that's 23 games; exactly what will be left in the season.

why not play an extra game at a prime location overseas?

H2H is a great idea Boc.

How does the head to head scoring work:102:

If you win against your opponent is it 2 for ' home win ' and 3 for an ' away win ':102:

:icon_lol: :038: I suggest Tucson first, and then Milton Keynes. There is a demand, you know.

Georgia should be a prime candidate, It has everything needed to stage a world class event such as the TB Prediction league.

I'm sure Lake Paravani is nice but it doesn't have much else outside of Tbilisi tbh...

Each team will play each of the other teams once only.

2 points for a win, 1 for a draw.

Places decided on:
  • Points
  • Goals scored
  • Result of game between the two teams
