I've had a few PMs and now a message in the WEEK EIGHT tables thread, asking about promotion and relegation at the end of this Prediction League season.
As I wrote at the start of the season, I want to do an experimental head-to-head league for the rest of the Football League season. With 23 Football League games left, this will entail Leagues of 24 teams who will play each other once.
At the end of this season, four teams will be promoted from each of the Fizzy and Chumps Leagues. Sufficient teams will then be relegated to give 24 points in each League.
At the moment, the Premier League has 26 teams. This means that 6 teams will be relegated. Next year's Premier League will therefore comprise:
the top 20 Premier League teams from the current season
the top 4 Fizzy League teams from the current season
The Fizzy League has 24 teams. This means that 6 teams will be relegated. Next year's Fizzy League will therefore comprise:
the 6 relegated teams from the Premier League
the Fizzy League teams who finish this season in position 5 through to position 18
the top 4 Chumps League teams from the current season
The Chumps League will comprise:
the 6 relegated teams from the Fizzy League
the remainder of the Chumps League teams from the current season
I know that this leaves us with one too many teams but there are a few 'inactive' teams and one of these will be dropped. Inactive teams will also be dropped to make way for any new team that wants to join in. WARNING - if you have been inactive in the Prediction League but want to avoid being dropped from the League, please let me know - or better still, get some predictions sent in!
