Leicester City manager Claude Puel has been approached to take up 'a major role' at French side St. Etienne, according to reports.

Puel has reportedly been sounded out by French-American businessman Jerome de Bontin, who hopes to complete a takeover of the Ligue 1 side.

France Football journalist Nabil Djellit says de Bontin, the head of a pension fund who has previously held roles at Monaco and New York Red Bulls, has contacted both Puel and outgoing Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger for when his purchase of St Etienne goes through.

yes I had missed the 8th finish, I just went back and checked, either way finishing 9th hardly happens with an horrendous record

A very interesting and reasonable post. I want to see Puel out but I find it difficult to justify this. Fortunately in football I can let my heart rule my head. I was angry when Pearson was sacked, upset at the treatment of Ranieri, and sad at the sacking of Shakespeare - although it could be argued that the owners were correct in all three cases. I feel no emotional link to Puel.
