Has anyone any thoughts on Qtrax http://www.qtrax.com/

They are claiming to be a FREE and LEGAL music download site using a P2P format.

Search, download and play over 25,000,000 songs (they say...)

'When you download and play music, the support of advertisers allows Qtrax to compensate artists for their work. There's no cost to download and use the software, there's no hidden charges, membership fees, or per song costs.'

It does sound too good to be true but the fact that a few major lables have denied giving the go-ahead makes it seem a little less than plain sailing (I understand that EMI (if they are still active) have signed up to it though).

Is it the future or wil we forget about it before November?

All of the files do have DRM & the client software 'phones home' as well.

With the Sony rootkit fiasco in mind, I would be very suspicious of it to be honest.

I did try it and all it seemed to offer was a glorified link to The Hype Machine.
I do use Hype Machine and it works well enough without the Qtrax mither.
