I have been appualted of late by their coverage of LCFC. Especially as so many games are now on at diffrent times/dates. I mean yesterday was really a pisstaker. Watched ahitty match where we played crap, by the time I got back to the car they were playing IRISH music!!!

They didn't even have a interview Adams!! I don't belive it! Does anyone actually listen to the Irish crap? Has Leicester got a large Irish population? For that matter does anyone listen to radio Liester for anything but sport??

I dought it so why can't they extend the program by about 30 mins!?

Also todays Moan in was poor, although i only listen to the firrt 10 mins, but how can tehy go off for the draw of some cup no one ever heard of???

GRRRRR

I hate radio leicester. I do listen to it when I cant make away games as theres often no other coverage, but it doesnt mean i like it. the phone in for example is a load of old bollocks.

Radio Leicester is extremely poor for coverage. They have even scrapped the after match phone-in, which was good to listen to immediate reaction after the game.

To answer your questions FF.

Yep there are indeed some sad old duffers listening to that diddly diddly crap. They are usually the blue rinsed brigade reminising about the mother country and how wonderful it is.

Leicester has a largish Irish community mainly due to the lackies that built the transport system in the first half of last century. Leicester also had a thriving hosiery which also attracted the bog trotters in their thousands.

To tell you the truth I went for a period of about 7 years when everyone I met was either half or a quarter Irish. They sure have been busy!

Anyway back to the questions. No I try not to listen to radio Leicester any more than I have to. The trouble with regional radio is it's regionalism. To justify it's existance it has to appeal to a broad cross section of the comunity. The result it does many things as average. If however it concentrated on one or two areas of local society I expect it would master these to a degree of serious accolades. It would however then lose it's regionalism and struggle for listeners. If you think that it is bad on a Sunday evening listen to 104.9FM around midnight. It then becomes an East Midlands radio station from Nottingham. :?

Travelling to away matches I often listen to the local radio stations before and after the match. Radio Leicester is one of the better local BBC stations for football coverage.

Other stuff, like Irish music etc doesn't have a large number of listeners, but the BBC is supposed to be a public service broadcaster, so they have to broadcast stuff that won't be profitable for commercial stations. I'd much rather have that than yet another station churning out the latest chart crap all day.

Whats the matter with Busted and the Cheeky Girls? ;)

I only listen for the sport, which is getting worse, but I did here a advert for a talk show on Radio Leicester and one of the things being discussed was 'How clean is your cooker?' Disapointed I missed that one

My vote goes to the last option... But that's probably cos' I live in London

I've just nearly choked on my bean sprouts after that effort! Bloody awful. Appalling spelling Fox Fan. Go back to school.

As for Radio Leicester, It is like listening to two old farts discussing the weather. Hate it. i prefer listening to Radio 5 Live - that is great if you can get over the bias towards the "big" clubs. Jimmy Arnfield is great.

i only listen to radio leicester for sport! its not great but i do think like webby said its alot better than other local radio's, the phone-ins aint great but i think thats got more to do with the people ringing up and saying stuff like
" i watch the game over the teletext and we were rubbbish" and
" i followed city for 40 years now and we've never benn as bad as this"
nev: 2so did you go to the game then"
"no i haven't been to the new stadium yet"
" i was discusted yesterday at the game, there was a gang in front of me who didn't sit down all game and never shut up" well it is a football game
but hay every radio station has this!

Brilliant Teeno. I congratulate you for your funnyness.

This is the truth

Whilst in the car waiting for the news & sport in the morning they were having an ARGUMENT about which side you butter a crumpet!!!! I know it's a public service, but who cares!!

It especially embarrassing if you were making crumpets and had just buttered them only to hear you'd done it wrong!

P.s. find a spelling mistake in that!

Well I personnally believe that you should first put on a layer of cream foolowed by the layer of jam on the top, possibly followed with a differant varity of cream and then posiibly Tea to go on the side

I laugh at you Fox Fan. Please go to at least one English spelling club this year, pleae? For me? You have gone way off thread talking about muffins and other rubbish.

As for Radio Leicester, the only good thing is the horn when we score a goal.
