Think this deserves its own thread, but if not please move it to where it should be.

Just watched the interview with Claudio from BT Sport prior to today's game. He says the usual stuff, one game at a time etc. However the interview concludes with him stating to the interviewer that he wants to finish his managerial career at Leicester, then asked how long that will be he replied 10 to 20 years with his usual laugh and smile. Would suit me even if its not that long!!

Just read this in the comments section of The Guardian, made me chuckle:

"My name is Claudius Decimus Ranierius, Commander of the Armies of the Midlands, General of the Foxes Legions, loyal servant to the Thai emperor. Murdered by Chelsea, ridiculed by the media. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."

Brilliant today as well. Asked about the bookies making us favourites for the title and joked they had him down as favourite in the sack race!

Whatever it is he has done, he has done it very well. What a man, I had my doubts as well and am still a big Pearson fan, but Claudio is just exceptional.

This Ranieri bloke seems decent. I hope that he can progress and do a bit better with us next season.

Interesting comments from an interview Ranieri did with an Italian journalist this week:

"The players were wary of an Italian coming in. Thought approach would be overly tactical. They didn’t seem convinced by it. Me neither. I’ve got a lot of admiration for coaches who come up with new systems but I’ve always thought a good coach should base a team on the characteristics of its players.

I told them I trusted them. That I wouldn’t talk about tactics a lot. For me the important thing was that they run a lot. My belief is that first of all the players need to recover. Then comes training.

Naturally I believe in coaching but I believe it’s all relative too. My lads train a lot but not too much. In England the intensity is high. There’s greater need to recover This has been our pact since day one. I trust you. I’ll talk tactics with you every now and again. You give me everything always."

Always looked the best available candidate for the job tho' the competition wasn't that outstanding.

No one would have guessed that he would have turned out to be such a perfect fit.

The owners made an inspired choice.

Not to take anything away from the owners, but did they make an inspired choice - or just a lucky one? If rumour is to be believed, they held interviews with Neil Lennon and it wasn't until CR threw his hat in the ring that they even considered him.

I suppose it doesn't matter now. :):):)

From what we heard in the media Hiddink was first choice, and we spoke to quite a few managers before Ranieri expressed his interest.

From what I can gather the owners were being sensible in considering their options.

He may not have been on their initial list, but I doubt he was a desperate or lucky appointment. There were many of us at the time that saw his qualities and record as being ideal for us.

These guys seem to achieve success on a wide scale. Looks like they make their own luck.

I also think that Pearson's contribution is only just being fully appreciated - and I say that having not been his greatest fan. And I don't think that Mandaric always gets credit for lifting the club out of the depths - when prior to him we hadn't got tuppence to spend on players and the likes of the Foxes Trust were getting their oar in.
