Seems as if they are flying out. The club have requested the optional 1,000 tickets. They had initial allocation of 3,000 !

I know it's the FA Cup but IMO it's not a glamour tie, and if we could take near on 4,000 down there, then that is fantastic. It's not exactly down the road, it's 150 mile from here in tree land.

I was looking at this web site, which some of you may want to look at. From what i've read the roads going in get very congested.

One of the worst grounds to get into and away from by car, talk about crap planning.

Allow an hour on top of your journey time (at least) to get parked and an hour and a half to get away afterwards, in any direction.

After the last time I went there I'd be inclined to take the train, there are supposed to be buses that run from outside the station to the ground and visa versa.

From the internet football ground guide:

Get the train to Reading mainline station and then the No 79 'Football Special' bus. The buses leave just down from the station. Once you come out of the main station entrance turn right and they are about 200 yards down the road on the opposite side - there is normally one waiting. The fare is ?2.50 return and takes about fifteen minutes to get to the ground. Across the road from the station is the Firkin pub,  which is good for a pint,  but they don't allow you in wearing colours. Also nearby is Bar Oz, which has also been recommended to me.

Thanks to Richard Stephens & Phillip Bott for helping me out with the railway bus information.

Paul Willems a visiting Bristol City supporter adds; 'the bus from the station is good provided that away fans do not cause any trouble. If you do then the buses (quite rightly, editor) refuse to pick you up after the game. I have a bitter experience of this, when the slowest police escort in history by Thames Valley Police got me back to the station at 7.30 pm!'

Having been there in the past I don't think it is THAT much of a problem. No worse than getting from the Walkers on a saturday afternoon. Best thing to do is to follow the signs from the M4 junction to the away car park and get the free bus from there.

See you all there!

I've never had a problem getting parked, or away from Reading by car.

The last couple of times I've been there I parked in a car park on an industral estate (I think it's on the right, before the ground, on the road from the M4).
As long as you get away from the stadium fairly quickly, you can get away from the car park before any queues build up.

I'll probably be going by train on Saturday though.

Evening.

Looking forward to the clash Saturday,we're expecting a crowd of around 16,000 which is pretty good bearing in mind it's the Cup and certainly for us it's Number 2 in terms of our wish list.

Getting to the ground is pretty easy, either come off at Junction 11 of the M4 or get to Oxford then take the A4074 to Reading and although you got to come from the North of the town center it does save a huge amount of time on the journey itself.

Parking can be a problem, you can park at the official stadium car park priced £4 or alternatively go into the Reading Speedway/Greyhound Stadium next door.Another alternative is to get off at Junction 11,M4 and drive to Foster Wheeler for a Park and Ride job.

Drinking is a problem down the MadStad, either cover up your colours and attempt to drink in the Jazz Cafe or Stadium Hotel which is overpriced or just take the bus journey into the Town Center.Buses run every 7-8 minutes.

Hope you enjoy your trip to the MadStad

Be warned they Issue parking tickets if your not a customer, so think of something you want from Comet and but it, or run the risk of a £60 fine.

The place I parked was a large football car park, I paid to park there.

Oviously diffrent places, the one im on about was reasonably close to the ground, about a 5 min walk. Good points include a Macdonalds, bad points include a Parking attendent.

Im talking about a pretty major retail park, but I can't remeber exactly where it was because it was night time and two years ago.
