[/i]Just got back from a presentation by a director of Arena Coventry ltd, very interesting!
- It was TEN weeks late, but they got it down to three before announcing it.
- We are not anchor tenants, thats the casino. We're just... well we're just tenants.
- Our business plan is based on mid-table in the Championship, the guy said that we struggle to survive now, if we'd have gone down we'd have, and I quote, "lasted maybe a yr, then bust".
- Richardson wasn't mentioned directly, but he never once mentioned his 'national stadium' plans without a smirk, and you got the impression the plans were a bit of a joke.
For instance, remember all those lovely designs we saw back in '97? They had a retractable pitch for concerts, but only after was it realised that if you retract the pitch it covers up most of the car park so you can't have the concert.
- We pay a flat £1m per yr to rent the stadium for 25 days. Our income comes via tickets, programme sales, pitchside advertising and the executive boxes- thats it. Everything else goes 50:50 between the Arena and the City Council.
- The reserves will be playing there in due course after the pitch has bedded in.
- They want to host Rugby Union matches there and the pitch has been designed for this purpose as well as football.
- The guy mentioned Leiecsters ground with regard to playing our 1st game elsewhere, and as he revealed that he worked for Leicester City for 10 yrs as head of operations, there might be a clue there...
- When he worked at Leicester, he says they were so cheap they didnt bother using the right kind of reinforced steel, so they can only have 15,000 for non-football, thats why their 'summer music festival' was cancelled. Their ground is genuinely cheaper and inferior, as we may well be finding out on August 6th!
Do the Foxes Trust have any information on this or is all nonsense?
