This has appeared on a KovSkum messageboard...

Just got back from a presentation by a director of Arena Coventry ltd, very interesting!

- It was TEN weeks late, but they got it down to three before announcing it.

- We are not anchor tenants, thats the casino. We're just... well we're just tenants.

- Our business plan is based on mid-table in the Championship, the guy said that we struggle to survive now, if we'd have gone down we'd have, and I quote, "lasted maybe a yr, then bust".

- Richardson wasn't mentioned directly, but he never once mentioned his 'national stadium' plans without a smirk, and you got the impression the plans were a bit of a joke.
For instance, remember all those lovely designs we saw back in '97? They had a retractable pitch for concerts, but only after was it realised that if you retract the pitch it covers up most of the car park so you can't have the concert.

- We pay a flat £1m per yr to rent the stadium for 25 days. Our income comes via tickets, programme sales, pitchside advertising and the executive boxes- thats it. Everything else goes 50:50 between the Arena and the City Council.

- The reserves will be playing there in due course after the pitch has bedded in.

- They want to host Rugby Union matches there and the pitch has been designed for this purpose as well as football.

- The guy mentioned Leiecsters ground with regard to playing our 1st game elsewhere, and as he revealed that he worked for Leicester City for 10 yrs as head of operations, there might be a clue there...

- When he worked at Leicester, he says they were so cheap they didnt bother using the right kind of reinforced steel, so they can only have 15,000 for non-football, thats why their 'summer music festival' was cancelled. Their ground is genuinely cheaper and inferior, as we may well be finding out on August 6th!

Do the Foxes Trust have any information on this or is all nonsense?

The wrong kind of reinforced steel? How is that even possible? How is it possible that over 15k people can't go into a ground where 32k are allowed?

Sounds like rubbish to me.

We can't have more than 15,000 for a concert, because it's not safe

But we can stuff 32,000 in to watch a football game

Yeah that makes sense - It must be true......

Then again the idea of Mace going to Cov and spreading nasty rumours about us does seem possible....

Before Sir Paul sends Ally McBeal round to your house Leigh, I think it's Charles Rayner who's made the comments as he's now working at ArenaKov.

It was definatley Charles Rayner, i wouldnt pay any attention to what he says he doesnt know his arse from his ear hole and has blagged his way through life.

It is not correct that the concert was cancelled due to limits on the stadium capacity - we weren't selling enough tickets to fill what was available so that is obviously wrong......

However the limit on capacity for concerts is true & is relates to the decibel levels (hence ok for general crowd noise, but not for a full blast rock concert).

Some amendments to the ground do need to be made & then the capacity will increase to over 20k for concerts.

so there is a limit in DB's  no decent gigs next year either then :-( know any good mime acts :D

Ahh, so that's why they picked Status Quo. :smt035 :smt035 :smt072

****ing Covscum think they know everything. So cheap and worthless at least our ground isnt owned by a casino. Their new ground is the same as ours expect a casino as been added on.

I mentioned on here months ago that I had heard that we could not have concerts due to the noise level and the ground not taking it, so was surprised when the 'gig's' (I use that word very loosely) were announced.
