Reserves Take On Huddersfield
Posted on: Wed 28 Nov 2007

Leicester City take on Huddersfield Town in the Pontin's Central Reserve League at the Marston's Stadium this evening (Wednesday).
The Foxes go into the game on the back of a 4-3 victory against Walsall two weeks ago - Eric Odhiambo, Ricky Sappleton and Jonathan Hayes grabbing the goals on the night.
Andy King, Ashley Chambers and Jonathan Hayes feature for the home side following their substitute appearances in Monday's Chapionship clash against Cardiff City.
Bruno N'Gotty has also been named in the starting eleven to face the Terriers.

Admission on the night is just £3 for adults and £1 for under 16s. Junior Foxes go free!
Highlights of the game will be available on Leicester City World from 10:00am tomorrow (Thursday).
Kick off is at 7pm.

City: Henderson, Kaebi, Rowe-Turner, N'Gotty, Garner, A King, Maybury, Hellings, Sappleton, A Chambers, Hayes
Substitutes: Odhiambo, Pentney, McKay, Cox, Cobb

I still find it difficult to accept that Season Ticket Holders don't get in free. Especially as that was the case with the recent game at the Walkers.

They took that away from us, as well as a load of other benefits, as part of the infamous "price freeze" a few years ago. Wankers.

Indeed, still doesn't explain why the game at the Walkers was free to STH's. Agreed though, wankers.

N'GOTTY POWERS IN HEADER TO EARN RESERVES A POINT

LEICESTER CITY RESERVES 1 HUDDERSFIELD RESERVES 1 BY ANDY MANN

10:30 - 29 November 2007

Leicester City Reserves were forced to settle for a point last night after fighting back from one goal down to draw 1-1 with Huddersfield.

City struggled against a bright Huddersfield side in the first half of the Pontin's Central Division clash and were fortunate to go in level at half-time through Bruno N'Gotty's powerful header.

But they were much improved after the break and went close to taking all three points at Hinckley's Marston's Stadium when Jonathan Hayes smacked an effort against the bar.

Coach Steve Beaglehole said: "It's a cliche but it was a game of two halves. Hendo (Paul Henderson) made three great saves in the first half and Bruno (N'Gotty) scored from a header to bring us to 1-1 at half-time when we hadn't played well.

"It was a lot better tempo in the second half, we created more chances and should have had a couple of goals."

City went behind after 15 minutes to a well-worked goal from Michael Collins.

The Terriers midfielder exchanged passes with James Berrett before neatly lifting his finish over Henderson.

City were finding life difficult against Huddersfield's five-man midfield and they were indebted to Henderson two minutes later when he saved bravely to deny Jonathan Worthington's break.

From the resulting corner, Worthington's well-struck volley was pushed around the post by the City keeper.

It took City almost 30 minutes to have their first meaningful effort as Ricky Sappleton dragged his left-foot shot into the side netting.

Moments later, Collins was denied his second of the night by Henderson's fantastic save. With City claiming offside, Collins met Matthew Young's far-post cross but his downward header was somehow palmed away by Henderson as he scrambled back across his goal.

City took advantage by grabbing an equaliser just before half-time, N'Gotty rising to head home Hayes' left-wing corner.

Hayes was in the thick of the action immediately after the break and was unfortunate to see his long-range effort cannon back off the bar.

He then teed up Scott Garner with an inswinging corner that the defender volleyed wide.

City played with a narrower midfield in the second half and were on top.

Substitute Billy McKay robbed winger Danny Racchi of possession but, with the visitors' defence opening up, his good work was undone by Sappleton's poor control.

Kaebi then narrowly failed to connect with Lee Cox's cross before Eric Odhiambo almost won it with a drive that stung the palms of Alex Smithies in the final minute.

City (4-4-2): Henderson, Maybury, Garner, N'Gotty, Rowe-Turner (Cox); Kaebi, King, Hellings, Hayes (McKay); Sappleton, Chambers (Odhiambo). Subs not used: Pentney, Cobb.

Even if Sheehan had to stand out of the game (Newton Stylee) until we had a corner or a free kick he should still get in the side.

Sheehan's free kicks are good, no doubt. But Hayes is getting in some good crosses lately.

He got one cross in the other night, other than that he hasn't played :102:

Sheehan got several, and hit some of the best corners we have seen for many a year

And the work down that side is much more than getting a few crosses in

Sheehan came close to scoring several times directly from said corners. They were best corners we have seen for approaching 10 years so get him out the side :icon_roll
