Return of O-Levels?

The Daily Mail (so take it for what it's worth) are reporting that the Government are scrapping the National Curriculum and GCSEs to bring back O-Levels and CSEs.

We're really in a mess aren't we? I would say I can't wait for the next general election... but I'm not sure there is a good option!

I'm awaiting the consultation. It's a travesty that I could roll up and achieved a passable grade in most subjects, barring those that use different linguistic characters. I sat the pilot GCSE exams and they were laughable.

Gove's greatest reform should be that of the 16+ education system. There should be an acknowledgement that 50% of the 50% 'target' heading to uni aren't up to the job.

Having taught in both the public and private sectors there is one thing that is certain, that is to increase the level of expectation.

The ERA was a foundation for equality in education, but the subsequent NC was far too prescriptive and led to certain heads focussing upon results and tables.
