Report from Portugal. I had a look after Blackwell in the LM said yesterday that he'd heard about a player extending contract but wanted to verify before reporting it. Looks like this is the one.

"Portuguese international Ricardo Pereira, 28, has renewed his contract with Leicester. According to what Record found, the agreement with the English club was extended for another 5 years, now extending until 2026.

The right-back, who has been in England since 2018, when FC Porto sold him for a fee of around 20 million euros, has eight games in the Premier League this season, but has also been used in the Cup. England, League Cup and Europa League".

Elsewhere there are also reports that the investigation into Porto and dodgy agents includes the transfer of Ricardo to us.

One of the best right backs in world football at one point.

Hasn’t been close to the same player since the injury. Had he stayed fit we’d have struggled to keep him.

5 years is a long time for a 28 year old. Let’s hope he can get back to his previous levels.

Agree. If this was prior to his ACL, I'd be thrilled at this news. Now though, less so.

The weird thing is that he looked totally back in the first couple of games this season and then got injured at Norwich and he's been poor or average ever since.

However he's fundamentally an excellent player and seems a good character in the squad too. We have a massive issue looming with contracts expiring in 2023 so this would be at least one off that list.

Good to hear.

He can get back to his best

Out for several weeks again.

Another contract extension for a perpetually injured player.

Give him 6 months of injury free football and he'll be back flying.

This is good news. He'll get over his injuries and come good. Best right back we've had save for Kaamark I'd say, and as an attacking force by far the best.

Hopefully they are paying him what he is worth now rather than before his injury in this new contract, the wage bill needs a significant trim.
