Another special City fan gone. Amazed he lasted this long but he was a source of great entertainment over the years. Especially if someone you knew had to sit next to him.

Aw I think everyone’s got a Bernie story.

- His pushed my sister’s mate off her bike when he lived in Loughborough.

- Mate’s dad is a plumber and got called to his house on Leicester Road in Quorn (it was knocked down after Bernie moved out because it was such a state) and witnessed his wife going batshit because she couldn’t cram a whole turkey into the microwave.

- Just generally seeing him in various locations around Charnwood with an empty carrier bag and thrusting at traffic while bellowing ‘DERBEH?!?! LEEDS?!?!?!’

In the days when he used to walk to the more local games, I picked him up on the way to Derby. He was quite calm and lucid in the car and I repeatedly had to ask him not to call me Sir. He didn't seem to mind that I kept the windows open on quite a cold day.

RIP Bernie - it's cruel to laugh at the misfortunes of others, but the old boy did keep us entertained.

I can’t remember if I saw it on here or if it was in my aunty’s frankly remarkable LCFC scrapbook but there was a newspaper cutting from the 60’s about him and how he’d walked all the way to Wembley for the FA or cup final or something.

My mate from Essex came to the 4-4 at Spurs under Micky Adams and Bernie was near us, in fine voice. I don't think he'd ever seen anyone quite like him, but he loved the fact that he was who he was and everyone seemed to know who he was. Happy days.

Sad to here as his dedication to following us is something that should not be mocked, however he may have came across at times.

Rip Bernie and hopefully the club arrange something for the weekend as there have been a couple of other long following home and away supporters that have left us over the past week or so.

Showed my Nanna some videos of Bernie today. She used to catch the bus near him on Epinal Way in Loughborough and didn’t have the fondest memories of him causing havoc but she enjoyed seeing him again.

End of an era. RIP Bernie.
