Tim Lovejoy has quit TV show Soccer AM after 10 years, it was announced today.

The move will bring to an end his long-running partnership with co-host Helen Chamberlain.

The Sky Sports show is a Saturday morning staple for football fans.

Lovejoy, 39, is believed to be developing a new celebrity show with Simon Fuller's 19 TV.

A Sky Sports spokesman said: "We can confirm that Tim Lovejoy has left Sky Sports.

"Tim notified us that he'd like a change of direction in his career and it is a decision that we understand.

"He leaves with our very best wishes for the future and we would like to thank him for his hard work throughout his time with Sky Sports."

Chamberlain will continue to present Soccer AM and a new co-host will be announced soon.

Lovejoy currently hosts BBC2 magazine show Something For The Weekend.

He has also co-presented Five's motoring show Fifth Gear and interviewed David Beckham for an ITV1 documentary last year.

to be honest i think he's a prick. he is an arrogant fecker with joe public and yet he embaressly licks the asses of the big name guests. i think tubes should get the job. haha

Not many fans then? ha.

Got bored of Soccer Am so the timing is right, still like Lovejoy though. Prefer something for the weekend to Soccer Am now.

I quite like Tim Lovejoy but I am sure they will replace him with Andy Goldstein who I think does a decent job on the All Sports show.

They might replace him with that Northern Irish guy who is on Radio 1 whose name I can't remember or Christian O'Connell:102:

:icon_eek: Can't stand that bloke.

I have had another scary thought, when Lovejoy has been away before Chris Kamara has replaced him a few times.

That really would be the end.

Not Colin 'wanker' Murray?? :098:

Funnily enough. I thought the same till last night, coming back from Wolverhampton along the M6 listening to his show, played a pretty good set and wasnt afraid to air his opinion. (No doubt stopped airing it in the afternoon)

I reckon Melton for the role, it would suit him down to the ground.

soccer am will be shit now considering he is the producer and writer for most of the shows material-its his show at the end of the day.

I thought the show had become a little tired tbh, the same jokes week in week out.

The writing was on the wall once they stopped the Vengabus dance behind the settee, once that went it was all downhill from there.

For me, that has been the highlight of the show's history
