Leicester City can confirm that a mutual agreement has been reached with defender Robbie Neilson for the cancellation of his contract with immediate effect.

Robbie leaves King Power Stadium after two years with the Foxes, having made 32 appearances since becoming the Club's 1,000th debutant, after joining from Scottish side Hearts in 2009.

The 31-year-old full-back joined League 1 Brentford on loan in February of this year to seek first team football, having found opportunities with City limited last season.

He now heads for a new challenge with the best wishes of everyone at the Football Club, who would like to thank Robbie for his outstanding professionalism and commitment over the last two years.http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~2395032,00.html

We must have another right-back lined up then... I know he wasn't really an option as cover for the position, but the fact we've moved him off the books says to me that there must be someone coming in for cover fairly sharpish.

I wish him well - in my opinion was not always up to the job - but he did try and that, for me, counts for a lot.

One of the worst defenders I've seen since John Curtis.

He reminded me of when you play with your mates on the local park and you invite along a lad who isn't a footballer just to make the numbers up. Stood out a mile.

Awkward on the ball, no first touch and no attacking threat whatsoever.

Did improve under Sousa but then that just shows what a clown Sousa was.... our worst player was the only one to respond & improve under his regime.

Dyer and King both also improved under Sousa as well.

Dyer under Sousa was absolutely electric. He was our best player in the Sousa "era" by some distance imo.

Good luck Robbie. Though as a Hearts fan put it "his second touch is usually a tackle", he occasionally produced a cross of exquisite quality (one for King to score against Palace I recall), and his commitment was never in doubt, never looked Championship quality, especially when our midfield gave the ball away and bailed out of the winning the ball back bit.

Always puzzled that he came to us with the reputation of having an awesome long throw. Awesomely hilarious maybe.

can we stop buying scottish players, they're all gash

I mean players currently in the Scottish Premier, it's pants

Gallagher we signed from an English team, McCallister we signed a long time ago

The same time we were signing Robbie, Ollie was signing Charlie Adam, Dorrans went from Scotland to WBA and Dobbie to Swansea, with a diversion to Bloomfield Rd. Maybe we're looking in the wrong place.

I believe he was a Grayson signing? :102:

Charlie Adam only got any good once he left Rangers and started playing competitive football

Dorrans and Dobbie, fair enough, both have gone to the English second flight and done well

but for every one of them, there's a Carlos Cuellar (tee hee Villa)

I thought he did a good job for us at the start of last season under Sousa.

Amazing what you can do for a player's rep when you make the rest of the side shit.

Take away that flush of pashun and there was **** all left. A truly dreadful signing.
